CEHD Transfer Admission Application Supplement
To apply for a CEHD undergraduate major follow these steps:
1. Submit a University of Minnesota Transfer Application.
2. Print and fill out this form (CEHD Application Supplement).
3. Submit a personal statement (see directions below).
4. Submit additional required materials for
 Early Childhood Education Foundations: Complete the hours verification form http://z.umn.edu/ecehrs plus
two letters of recommendation.
 Elementary Education Foundations: Complete the verification of volunteer classroom hours form
http://z.umn.edu/eledclasshrs and the additional related experience form http://z.umn.edu/eledaddl. For
each classroom hours experience, ask the teacher to complete the teacher evaluation form

 Special Education: Submit two letters of recommendation. (One letter should be from an instructor who can
speak to your academic potential.)
Deadlines:
Priority deadline for fall semester:
March 1st
Priority deadline for spring semester:
October 1st
Applications received after the priority deadline will be considered on a space-available basis.
Please note that MANY majors fill with applications submitted by the priority deadline!
Personal Statement Instructions:
This personal statement will be used to:
• Ensure best fit between applicants and the proposed major
• Capture ability and experiences not reflected on transcripts
• Evaluate academic writing ability
All applications must include a 2 page (500 -700 word) personal statement that addresses the following:
1. Why you want to pursue this major, in as much detail as possible
2. How your experiences (work, school, volunteer, personal, etc.) have led you to want to pursue this major
3. How this major will help you to advance your life/career goals
