Schedule for Student Teaching Application/Placements for Fall 2012 Beginning Date and Length of Experience o Student teachers officially begin their student teaching when the cooperating teachers report for the beginning of the fall, according to the school district calendar. That is, they begin with their placement school calendar, not the university calendar. Student Teachers are expected to be in attendance on all days that their cooperating teacher is expected to be in attendance (including work days, conferences, in-service days, etc). o Student teaching requires full-time, on-site attendance for 15 weeks or no less than 75 days for secondary endorsements; 16 weeks or no less than 80 days (2 placements of a minimum of 40 days, each) for K-12 art or music, early childhood education, or secondary business and marketing endorsements. Application is available on the Licensure website: www.stepp.cahs.colostate.edu/studentteaching/Default.aspx ● Read & sign “Placement Agreement form & “Code of Ethics” form, distributed in EDUC450. ● Complete electronic placement preference survey that will be emailed to you. Due Friday, January 27th @ 4:00 pm. ● Make appointment with advisor to complete Advisor Summary form (undergraduates), due by Friday, March 9th @ 4:00 pm. Post Bachelors should check with the Licensure Office (111 Educ.) to make sure there is a PB Contract in their file, or have one completed by application due date. ● Electronic application due to Jody Drager by Friday, January 27 @ 4:00 pm, See instructions on back. Licensure Office reviews applications; takes placement requests from 450 instructors, advisors, and school administrators. D:\687299981.Doc Application to Student Teach Complete the “Student Teacher Application” found on the Licensure website: www.stepp.cahs.colostate.edu/studentteaching/Default.aspx Save the completed application to your computer, as a Microsoft Word document. You may then refine and proof-read your information and make changes. Please do not try to reformat the application to please your taste. Please TYPE your name, or scan your signature, if you prefer, in the space at the end of the application asking for the student teacher’s signature. Submit your completed application, including the “Beliefs About Education and Teaching” essay, as an email attachment to Jody Drager at: Jody.Drager@colostate.edu An example of a well written “Beliefs About Education and Teaching” essay can be found on the Licensure website. Please try to keep your statement to 1 page, or less. Be aware that the application is sent to the cooperating schools. Since this form represents the teacher candidate as a professional, the candidate will want to be sure it is error free and completed neatly. The completed application packet consists of: o Student Teaching Application form (submitted electronically by student to Jody Drager) o Hard copy of PLACE® or Praxis II Score Report (submitted by student, to Educator Licensing Office on/or before 4:30 pm, April 13, 2012) This means that the last testing date that will be accepted for fall 2012 student teaching is the March, 2012 Praxis Exam, or the March , 2012 PLACE® Exam. If you do not have an official score report of your exam scores, you must request one from the testing agency. You will not be allowed to student teach until you have submitted a copy of your score to be placed in your Teacher Licensure file. o Advisor Summary form (for undergraduates), sent to advisors from the Licensure Office, or a Post Bachelor Contract (forms will be submitted by student).
