MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS

SOUTHWESTERN OREGON COMMUNITY COLLEGE
(Six Quarters for the Price of One)
1. TUITION WAIVER: You pay full tuition for the fall quarter and then qualify to receive a
waiver of the tuition for the winter and spring quarters of your first year at S.O.C.C.
2. If you continue to meet the qualifications in the second year, your tuition is paid for the entire
second year.
THE REQUIREMENTS FOR QUALIFICATION ARE:
1. Students must enroll for a minimum of 15 credit hours and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher.
2. Students must be enrolled in the following Music Courses:
Year One
Year Two
Music Theory I (MUS 111 – 113)
Music Theory II (MUS 211 – 213)
Ear Training & Sight Singing (MUS 114 – 116)
Ear Training & Sight Singing
Piano Class (MUS 131 – 133)
Piano Class (MUS 231 – 233)
Private Lessons (MUP 171 – 199)
Private Lessons (MUP 271 – 299)
1 or more Performance Ensembles (each term)
1 or more Performance Ensembles
(MUP 105 – 142 or 202A & B)
Introduction to Music and Its Literature (MUS 201-203)
(taken either year or spread between both)
3. Music Majors must pursue the A.A.O.T. (Music Emphasis) Degree as outlined in the S.O.C.C.
course catalog.
4. Scholarships are being offered in the following areas:
Voice (Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses)
Woodwinds (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet and all Saxophones),
Brass (Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, and Tuba)
Piano
Strings (Violin, Viola, & Cello),
Guitar & Bass Guitar
Percussion (Drums and Mallets)

MUSIC DEPARTMENT IS:
A college music program with high standards and a friendly atmosphere. Students learn through a
combination of classroom experience, community service and co-operation. We have a Music
Theory program that is comparable to any in the state both at the University or Community College
level. All our ensembles perform literature that promotes growth, musicianship, and education. We
have some of the latest music technology including MIDI hardware and software, that allows for
growth in an expanding music industry. Faculty support is a high priority and we also offer oncampus housing.
