The AEPi Leadership Awards are merit-based scholarships to recognize the contributions of leaders in their community. The Leadership Awards are funded by the contribution of several alumni who dedicated their time at Berkeley to build the Jewish community.

These awards are only available to incoming Berkeley students. In order to be eligible, you must either be enrolled as a student or be in the fall extension program.

About AEPI:

Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) is an international fraternity with over 93,000 members from chapters all over the United States, Canada, and recently Israel. The University of California, Berkeley is home to the Chi Alpha (XA) chapter of AEPi, which is one of the largest fraternities on the

Berkeley campus.

The International Fraternity was founded in 1913 at New York University, and its mission and ideals are detailed at aepi.org

. Our chapter was founded originally in 1949, and after an extended hiatus it was re-founded in 1985. As a chapter we value the principles of the international fraternity, specifically its Jewish nature, and our activities are designed to be consistent with these principles while providing the sort of opportunities that we believe enrich our collective college experience.

Several years ago, we were able to secure enough funds through the collaborative effort of several esteemed alumni to establish a scholarship for incoming freshman and transfer students.

Criteria for the awards include the following factors, not all having the same weight:

Extra Curricular Activities Scholarship

Involvement in your/Jewish Community Social Involvement

Community Achievements Need

Applicants must currently be registered as incoming freshman or transfer students on the

Berkeley campus and must make a good-faith commitment to remain so for at least 24 months after receiving the award. The successful applications will be chosen by the Executive Board of

Alpha Epsilon Pi in conjunction with the scholarship committee and alumni board for an interview at the beginning of the academic year. Top interviewers will be awarded merit scholarships that will be made available in the fall semester.

The Alpha Epsilon Pi Executive Board of Berkeley reserves the right to determine the number, amount, and timing of these awards. Additional procedures are set forth in the current application forms.
