Virtue of the month: Tolerance
Practicing tolerance is showing respect and appreciation for differences. Here is a quote from
Claudette Renner: “Disagreements have been part of our relationships - along with forgivenessas we are totally different personalities and love always remains.”
HOT LUNCH – Grade 7 fundraiser
This week’s hot lunch is Chatters Pizza. You may pay with your pizza card or pay cash for this
hot lunch. Orders must be in by Wednesday noon….no later This is the last hot lunch of the
year, although there may be an extra Chatters pizza lunch in June. A big thank you to our PSG
for this much appreciated service program and to the grade 7 parents for the Chatters pizza
lunches. Hot lunch and pizza cards will be passed on to the next grade if your child has not used
up all the card.

NO MORE HOTDOG AND JUICE SALES ON MONDAY for the remainder of the year
Thank you to all our customers and to the grade seven class for a successful hotdog and juice
lunch program. This is the last year that the money raised will go exclusively to the Adullam
Orphanage in Ghana. Next year, we will have a foster child to support as well through the
Canadian Catholic Chalice Program (which won a national award for financial responsibility in
2012). We wonder who our child will be!
LIBRARY BOOKS
Next week is the last week for students to take out library books. All books must be returned by
the last day of school. Ms. Tessier is looking for two parents to volunteer to help with inventory
in the library. This would take place on Monday, June 24th from 9:00am-3:00pm. If you can
help, please contact the office. Thank you.
STUDENTS LEAVING THE SCHOOL
Just a reminder that if your child is to leave the school grounds for any reason during the school
day, please write your child’s teacher a note or call the office. Thanks
DISTRICT TRACK MEET- male volunteer still needed
The District Track Meet will be held on June 7th at the Smithers Secondary School starting
around 8:30. This is for grades 4-7. Our school is once again in charge of the ladies’ and mens’
washroom from 11:15am-12:00 pm. Mrs. Sue Utz has volunteered for the ladies’ washroom and
we thank her. We are still looking for a male volunteer to work this shift. If you can help
with this, please phone the office at 250-847-9414. Please note that the grade 6 class will be
away for the track meet this year.
TALENT SHOW
We will be having a talent show sometime at the end of June (date to be confirmed). Please ask
your child/ren if they plan on participating and have them practice at home. Grade K-1 will need
a parent signature on the talent show form. This show will not be judged, it is a chance for the
students to “show off “ their talents.
KINDERGARTEN MASS
Our school mass this Wednesday, May 29th is at 9:00am with the both Kindergarten classes
presenting. Everyone is welcome to come. Remember the school will be locked so all students
late will have to come to the church and quietly find their class.
FALL FAIR ANOUNCEMENT
It’s that time of year! Once again, Saint Joseph’s School and Parish will be in charge of the Fall
Fair Gates. Last year we made a little over $5000.00 from this event! If you are in town for the
Fall Fair (August 22nd-25th) and are able to donate a few hours of your time, it would be greatly
appreciated. Please contact Michael Des Harnais at (250)847-0359 or e-mail
babinevet@gmail.com Thank you!
TUNA CANS
The grade 6 class needs clean tuna, salmon, or small cat food cans for an outdoor session at
Camp Emmaus. A few have come, but not enough … Please drop off at the office. Thank you!
GARAGE SALE SEASON
Our garage sale will be on Saturday, June 1st from 8:00am-11:00am in the school gym.
Thank you for all the items that you have sent in for the garage sale. Please keep them
coming! We appreciate all the support that is given to our school from everyone in the
school and parish community.
PRE K REGISTRATION 2013/2014
