The AIT lab orientation online scheduling website is open beginning July 14, 2014 and AIT lab
orientations start July 23, 2014 and end on July 29, 2014. You will need the following information to
fulfill the AIT lab orientation assignment for this class. Please check with your instructor for the due
date of the assignment.
1. Location
Orientations are conducted in the Assistive and Instructional Technology Lab in SZB 518E.
2. Contact Information
Lab Manager: Vivian Hou
Email: vivianhou@austin.utexas.edu

3. Scheduling Your Orientation
All orientation scheduling is online. To access the scheduling system, visit the AIT Web site,
click on the Orientation Scheduling Sign-Up link, and use your UT EID to log on. The orientation
dates and times are posted in the scheduling system Web site. There is no sign-up deadline, but
the sooner you sign up, the more likely you will be able to get a session that fits your
schedule. Each student is limited to scheduling one orientation session. Please be sure to record
the date and time of the session you selected.
If you have already taken an orientation in the past, you may not sign up for another
orientation. E-mail the AIT lab manager, Vivian Hou (vivianhou@austin.utexas.edu) and provide
the following information:
1. Your Name
2. The semester you took an orientation (e.g., Summer 2013). The semester/year that you see
in the scheduling system is the semester/year you took the previous orientation.

4. Rescheduling
If your schedule does not work with any of the available sessions, or if you find that you cannot
attend the session you signed up for, please notify your instructor and the lab manager
immediately by e-mail or phone. The earlier you contact the AIT Lab staff about scheduling
problems, the more likely they will be able to accommodate you.
5. Arrival for Orientation
Arrive AT LEAST 5 MINUTES early for your visit. If you are late, you CANNOT join an
orientation already in progress.
6. What to Bring
Bring the AIT orientation Site Visit Form from this AIT Lab Orientation Assignment
Information packet to the orientation. You must fill it out and have it signed by the lab staff to
receive full credit.
7. Assignment Completion
Once the orientation and the assignment form are completed, turn in the form to your
instructor. In addition, you must fill out the online AIT orientation survey
(http://bit.ly/UHjQAr) to completely finish the AIT assignment.
8. Missing the Orientation
If you miss your scheduled time, and did not contact the instructor and the lab manager at
least ONE DAY in advance, you will be required to obtain written permission from your instructor
prior to seeking an additional orientation. First speak to or e-mail your instructor, providing a
valid reason for your absence and asking permission to reschedule. The instructor will contact the
lab manager with notice of their permission. The lab manager will contact you when your account
has been reset and you are able to re-register for another orientation. You will be allowed only
ONE cancellation.
9. AIT lab Web site Address
Please visit the Web site to schedule your orientation, download the site visit form, and find
additional information. http://www.edb.utexas.edu/atlab
Note:
Sign up for an orientation as soon as possible to ensure you find a time that fits your schedule.
If you sign up for one of the last available orientations, then miss that orientation, you may not be able
to make it up. Please read the following “no-show” policy.
No-Show Policy for Orientations
“No-Show" means that a student does not attend the session for which he/she signs up AND
does not contact the instructor and lab at least ONE DAY prior to the absence. One cancellation will
be accepted one day prior to your scheduled orientation time. If you find it necessary to make a
schedule change you may contact the lab manager or TAs in the lab (SZB 518E) at 471-4004 or

vivianhou@austin.utexas.edu to make this request. If you do not attend an orientation for which you
signed up, you must contact the instructor of your class. It will be up to the course instructor to
determine whether you are eligible to attend another orientation. Your instructor will then email
approval to the lab manager, who will reset your online account and enable you to re-register for
another orientation. There is no guarantee that additional sessions will be posted to the calendar, so
you must plan to attend one of the AIT orientation sessions on the calendar.
