POSITION DESCRIPTION UNIVERSITY SERVICES PROGRAM ASSOCIATE (80%) POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT: Manage the Center for Land Use Education’s (CLUE) office using principles of sustainability in all operations, including purchasing, workshops, and publications. Provide administrative and technology support to the Director and seven extension specialists (totaling 4.45 FTE). Expected to work collaboratively with Lakes Program staff. Maintain and update CLUE’s website, including design and layout. Edit, design, and layout publications. Participate in research and writing activities relating to CLUE’s mission, including food systems, sustainability, and emerging topics. Responsible for financial management of the Center accounts including GPR, grant, and contract accounts. Supervise students in appropriate tasks. This position operates with general supervision. 25% A. WEBSITE AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS PRODUCTION A.1 Design and update CLUE’s website A.2 Prepare the Center’s newsletters with the managing editors A.3 Assist in preparation of educational materials and programs including design, layout, content, and style A.4 Record and upload presentations (at workshops, during webinars, etc.) A.5 Host and facilitate webinars 20% B. RESEARCH AND WRITING ASSISTANCE B.1 Research food systems, sustainability, and emerging topics B.2 Write topical articles and case studies for CLUE publications and newsletters B.3 Participate in community-based research projects as appropriate 10% C. GENERAL PROGRAM SUPPORT C.1 Provide administrative support to the Director and seven extension specialists C.2 Respond to requests for materials and information C.3 Purchase and requisition office supplies, equipment, furniture, and materials C.4 Maintain files and records for CLUE C.5 Relay communications from public, UW System faculty, and UWEX staff C.6 Assist in implementing CLUE’s program evaluation plan, including tracking and evaluating program participation using an Access database C.7 Other duties as assigned 10% D. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT D.1 Prepare invoices and maintain an invoice log D.2 Maintain account records for CLUE and other grant and contract accounts D.3 Receive and deposit registration fees D.4 Process conference disbursements D.5 Collect payments through an on-line system such as paypal 8% E. EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP SUPPORT E.1 Prepare and distribute workshop brochures E.2 Manage workshop registrations E.3 Prepare workshop materials for attendees 5% F. SUPERVISION OF STUDENT STAFF F.1 Interview and hire student office assistants. F.2 Train and supervise student office assistants. F.3 Maintain KRONOS records for all student employee’s salaries and balances for all regular and work-study students in CLUE. 2% G. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT G.1 Maintain general familiarity on land use, zoning, and sustainability issues G.2 Maintain familiarity with software to include the Microsoft suite, including Web Expressions, Adobe products, such as Acrobat and Indesign, and webinar and video technologies G.3 Participate in UW-Stevens Point and UW-Extension committees as appropriate
