PURPOSE
The Institute for Supply Management - Greater New Orleans, Inc. will award up to two partial scholarships/educational grants per year to high school, undergraduate, or graduate students.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
ISM-GNO Scholarship Committee expects to award a scholarship this year to an eligible applicant(s). Scholarship amounts are budgeted each year based on available funds.
Eligible applicants will be either:
Spring 2012 graduating high school students who are primarily children of ISM-
GNO members and have been accepted as 2012 Summer or Fall semester students at an accredited University or College with the intention of acquiring a degree in business, especially programs related to Supply Management.
or undergraduate and graduate students currently within the Greater New Orleans area who have successfully completed a supply management project as part of their course work or internship assignment and are nominated for scholarship by
ISM-GNO members.
In either scenario, added consideration will be given to Louisiana residents who will be pursuing their education within the state of Louisiana.
NOMINATION PROCEDURES
ISM-GNO scholarship Committee will send out a Call for Nominations in the spring semester to all its members. The following items must be submitted to the ISM-
GNO Scholarship Committee Chair:
a completed application form (included below)
a letter written by the student, addressed to the Scholarship Committee, in which the applicant sets forth the details of his/her accomplishments, future interests, and the reason why he/she should be considered for the scholarship
a current, official, school transcript
a copy of the supply management project report (for undergraduate and graduate students only)
NOMINATION DEADLINE
The completed application package must be received by the deadline (May 31, 2012) to be announced shortly thereafter. Applicants are encouraged to submit electronically to
the chairman of the ISM-GNO Scholarship Committee. Any documents that are not electronically available should be sent by mail.
SELECTION PROCEDURES
The Scholarship Committee is headed by the Academic Chair and formed by four additional members of the ISM-GNO Board of Directors. The Committee examines all nominations and selects the finalists on the basis of:
likelihood of "making a difference" in the business community
academic performance and communication skills
If the Committee judges that none of the applicants adequately meets these criteria, it will not select a candidate, and a scholarship will not be awarded that year. The funds for the scholarship will be allocated on a year-to-year basis and will not rollover to the following year.
The ISM – GNO Scholarship Committee is accepting applications until May 31, 2012.
You may qualify for the one-time scholarship of up to $1,000 to be awarded in June
2012.
In addition to this application form, each applicant is required to submit (1) a copy of his/her school transcript, (2) a letter written by the student, addressed to the
Scholarship Committee, in which the applicant sets forth the details of his/her accomplishments, future interests, and the reason why he/she should be considered for the scholarship, (3) and a copy of the supply management project report (for undergraduate and graduate students only).
