The University, to promote academic excellence, has formulated the following regulations in accordance with the NCKU ’s “Aim for the Top University Project”, to recruit distinguished scholars to help specific areas of teaching, technology R&D and management. 2. Subjects of Recruitment are in the following seven categories: (1) Visiting Distinguished Chair Professor (shall be a foreign scholar and be recruited for at least one month in principle) meets one of the qualifications below: i. is a Nobel prize laureate; ii. is a Fellow of a national research institute and has an international reputation. (2) Visiting Chair Professor (shall be a foreign scholar and be recruited for at least one month in principle): is or has been a chair professor at a university and has published works that have won international acclaim in the past three years. (3) Visiting Professor/Visiting Research Fellow (shall be a foreign scholar and be recruited for at least two months in principle): has held the position of a professor at a university or a researcher in a research institute and has attained an excellent achievement or published valuable works in the past three years. (4) Visiting Associate Professor/ Visiting Associate Research Fellow (shall be a foreign scholar and be recruited for at least two months in principle): has held the position of an associate professor at a university or an associate researcher in a research institute and has attained an excellent achievement or published valuable works in the past three years. (5) Visiting Assistant Professor/Visiting Assistant Research Fellow (shall be a foreign scholar and be recruited for at least two months in principle): has held the position of an assistant professor at a university or an assistant researcher in a research institute and has attained an excellent achievement or published valuable works in the past three years. (6) Visiting Expert (shall be a foreign scholar and be recruited for at least two months in principle) meets one of the qualifications below: i. ii. (7) has continued to do professional work, conduct research in a research institute, or engage in R&D and management in a science and technology organization with notable results for more than four years after obtaining their doctorate; possesses unique talent rarely seen at home or abroad in the R&D or management of a special technology or a science and technology institute. Research Professor (shall be a foreign scholar): whose qualification should comply with that of Visiting Professor/Visiting Research Fellow; Associate Research Professor (shall be a foreign scholar): whose qualification should comply with that of Visiting Associate Professor/Visiting Associate Research Fellow; Assistant Research Professor (shall be a foreign scholar): whose qualification should comply with that of Visiting Assistant Professor/Visiting Assistant Research Fellow; Research Expert (shall be a foreign scholar): whose qualification should comply with that of Visiting Expert; Postdoctoral Research Fellow: possesses a doctorate, and has development potential. The period of recruitment in this category should be for at least three months in principle. 1 3. The process of recruitment should also comply with NCKU Regulations of Project-Appointed Teaching (or Research) Staff. 4. Work remuneration (Teaching and Researching Pay) of the recruited scholar is detailed in Appendix 1. 5. Application: please send the application form to the Research & Recruiting Scholars Division at the Headquarters of University Advancement. 6. These regulations have been approved by senior administration of the Headquarters of University Advancement..
