Guidelines
Please read carefully before completing this application form
1.
The attached application form must be completed by applicants applying for Direct Entry. This includes:(a)
Admission to a continuation course (follow-on Bachelor Degree (Ordinary and Honours)
(If you are a current LYIT student you do not need to complete this application form, contact the
Registry office for details)

N.B. If you wish to apply for first year as a full-time student you must apply via www.cao.ie
2.
ACCS: All ACCS applicants must, in addition to this form, complete a supplementary form which
is available from the Registry office.
3.
If you wish to receive immediate acknowledgement of receipt of your application by the Registry
Office, please enclose a stamp addressed post-card.
4.
All applicants will be notified of their application and file number when we acknowledge applications.
If you have previously attended LYIT your application number will be your LYIT number.
5.
Applicants may not present more than one form in any year. Late applicants are those received after
the closing date and will only be processed at the absolute discretion of LYIT.
6.
Results: Please enclose certified copies of any Higher Education qualifications, or transcripts of
results with your application. LYIT requests results from previous colleges on behalf of applicants.
However, on occasion, we may not receive them in time to process applications. To ensure that your
application will be processed for round one graduate offers (early July), we would ask you to forward a
certified copy of your results to the Registry Office. Please do not send original documents as any
documentation submitted will not be returned.
7.
Applicants presenting qualifications other than the usual NQAI Level 6 & 7 awards, must attach the following
with their application:a)
A copy of the syllabus on which their award is based
b)
A certified copy of the examination transcript, showing the award title and the grades/marks achieved
Where the above information is not in English, notarised translations must be provided. (Applicants should refer
to http://www.lyitnet.lyit.ie/admissions/admin/advanced_entry.html for additional information).
8.
First offers for Direct entry will normally be issued in July. There may be subsequent offers in August/September.
9.
Grants:
Funding is normally available only once at each stage. Funding may also be available to students progressing
to an Advanced stage. Funding is not normally available to students repeating a stage or taking an alternative
programme at a level for which they already received funding.
If you have any questions regarding grants, please contact your local VEC, County, City or Borough, Council
or the grants section of LYIT.
