Goodyear “Elevate Your Genius” Scholarship GOAL: To actively advance The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s continuing commitment to the promotion of education in STEM disciplines PURPOSE: To benefit talented high school students who are pursuing a career in engineering AWARDS: For STEM Career Day 2016, Goodyear has partnered with the University of Akron, Case Western Reserve University, and Cleveland State University to provide scholarship opportunities for students who plan to attend these schools to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering. Additionally, Goodyear is solely funding scholarships for students to attend any accredited college or university program to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in any STEM discipline, which results in a total of over $35,000 in scholarship money to be awarded. Overall, nine students will be awarded one of nine scholarships in her/his name to the university she/he is to attend per the following details: - (4) $5,000 two-year scholarships ($2,500/year) to the University of Akron to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in engineering - (1) $5,000 two-year scholarship ($2,500/year) to Case Western Reserve University to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in engineering - (1) $5,000 two-year scholarship ($2,500/year) to Cleveland State University to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in engineering - (3) $2,500 one-year scholarships to an accredited college or university to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in any STEM discipline Criteria for the distribution of the academic awards: The applicant should be a high school senior enrolled in a public or private school or home schooled in Northeast Ohio. a. The applicant must complete a formal application by March 11, 2016 by submitting all required materials which include: Application document “Elevate Your Genius” creative component (see details on application) One letter of recommendation from a math or science teacher High school transcript SAT or ACT scores (a photocopy of the official score report) 1 b. The applicant must provide evidence of acceptance into a baccalaureate undergraduate engineering program (or STEM program in the case of the STEM scholarships) or a letter of intent. (Copy of official acceptance letter must be provided prior to check being issued to the school in the winner’s name. If evidence is not provided by August 15, 2016, the scholarship is forfeited to the runner-up.) c. Academic Status: Must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater d. Eligibility: U.S. Citizen e. Applicant should attend the Goodyear STEM Career Day on April 30, 2016. Alternatively, in the case of a scheduling conflict for an applicant for the 2016 event, any previous Goodyear Engineering Career Day/STEM Career Day attendance can be used to qualify for the scholarships. We would, however, strongly prefer that applicants attend STEM Career Day 2016.
