NATIONAL CONSORTIUM FOR SECONDARY STEM SCHOOLS
MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIP: This category is open to secondary schools and schools with specialized
STEM centers located in the U.S., that have nonprofit status and whose primary objectives are
congruent with the Consortium’s mission. The membership committee of the Consortium Board of
Directors has the responsibility to investigate all organizations seeking membership to determine that
the rigor and program structure of all applicants is comparable to that of the current members in that
category.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP: This category is for the following types of schools that have nonprofit status
and whose primary objectives congruent with the Consortium’s mission:
1. Emerging schools developing as specialized schools or specialized centers
2. Schools restructuring to become specialized secondary schools
3. Schools designing or redesigning to have specialized centers
4. Virtual High Schools
5. Schools outside the United States
6. Middle schools
AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP: This category includes the following types that have demonstrated an
interest in and support for the Consortium:
1. Colleges and Universities
2. Summer Programs
3. Governmental agencies
4. Private Businesses and Corporations, Associations, and Nonprofit Organizations
INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP: This category includes the following types that have demonstrated an
interest in and support for the Consortium:
1. Professional educator employed by an institutional, associate or affiliate member who seeks
access to member resources
2. Professional educator whose work may further the mission of NCSSS and seeks access to
member resources
ANNUAL DUES:
Institutional Member, Associate Member, Affiliate Member* ..……………………….....$375

* Institutional membership dues must be received by September 30 in order for the school to be eligible to participate in the consortium
activities and events, plus conference discounts.
**A portion of your membership fee will be categorized as a “donation” towards programs for NCSSS students

Institutional Members
1. Letter of interest/introduction from highest school official explaining how your school’s goals
are congruent with the mission and goals of the Consortium
2. Evidence of rigor should include any or all of the following:
a. Description of school/program; printed recruiting materials/website
b. School profile as provided by the guidance office
c. Advanced curricular offerings including AP/IB/dual enrollment opportunities
d. Project/Research requirements/offerings
e. Affiliations with local colleges/universities/research facilities/etc.
f. List of students’ acceptances for colleges and universities (if applicable)
3. Letter of recommendation from school district official, collegiate partner, corporate or research
affiliate referencing your institution’s success as a community leader in STEM education.
4. Letter on school letterhead stating tax exempt status
Associate Members

following:
a. Description of school/program; printed recruiting materials/website
b. School profile as provided by the guidance office
If it is a developing school they will have a program description submitted to start the
planning committee-c. Advanced curricular offerings or planned offerings including AP/IB/dual enrollment
opportunities (or anticipated)
d. Project/Research requirements/offerings or requirements/offerings
e. Affiliations with local colleges/universities/research facilities/etc., or planned affiliations
f. List of students’ acceptances for colleges and universities (if applicable)
3. Letter of recommendation from school district official, collegiate partner or research affiliate
referencing your institution’s success as a community leader in STEM education.
