of Acceptance:
1. If you have been provided with a Second Career Application Package
by your Employment Assessment Centre, please review Sheridan’s
full-time program admission requirements outlined below under
Program-Specific Admission Requirements. Please note that to be
extended an offer to Sheridan and obtain an acceptance letter, you
are required to meet the admission requirements. We will be pleased
to talk with you about your program and Second Career. Also, please
attend a Sheridan Second Career Information Session - times and
locations are noted at http://www.sheridancollege.ca/admissions/howto-apply/second-career/info-sessions.aspx
2. Please apply to your program choice through the Ontario Colleges
website at: www.ontariocolleges.ca. Please provide transcripts or
request mature student testing, if you meet the criteria. There is a $95
non-refundable application fee, payable to Ontario Colleges.
3. If Sheridan determines you do not meet the admission requirements
through transcripts or testing, we will provide you with information
about how you can most efficiently obtain the necessary prerequisites
through Sheridan’s Upgrading or ESL Programs.
4. If you are accepted into your program choice, you will receive an offer
of admission and, subsequently, a detailed acceptance letter, which
you will submit with your Second Career funding application.

This is a 1 year full time program (2 semesters of 14 weeks each)
Hours per week: 19 (daytime hours between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday
to Friday; however, please note that in some circumstances, courses may
start at 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. and run until 9:00 or 10:00 p.m.)

Programs starting in September have a Christmas break of approximately 3
weeks.
Programs starting in January and May run continuously over 8 months (no
summer break), with two weeks between semesters.

Language Assessment for Essential Communication Skills Requirement
Prior to start of term, you will write a Language Assessment test (dates and
times to follow,) which determines your placement in either Essential
Communication Skills ECS (COMM19999) OR Communication
Foundations CF (COMM19997). Essential Communication Skills is a
mandatory requirement in order to graduate from your program; therefore, if
you are placed in Communication Foundations you must successfully
complete it, and then you are required to enroll in and successfully complete
Essential Communication Skills at your own expense. We strongly urge you

Payment Policy for
Second Career:
Option 1: Payment of total fees for one full year should be paid in full by the
tuition deadline. Please refer to your Fees Invoice for tuition deadlines
as deadlines vary depending on when you are extended and accept an
offer.
To officially withdraw from Sheridan full time programs, you must do so in
writing by the 10th day of scheduled classes by submitting to the Office of the
Registrar an “Application for Term or Complete Program Withdrawal”. The
form is available at all Sheridan Student Advisement offices.
As of the September 2015 term onward, all fees are subject to a $500
non-refundable registration charge, in accordance with policy set by the
Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
Withdrawal/Refund
Policy:
Any refund, less the non-refundable registration charge, will be refunded to
the student in the form of a cheque.
Students who pay for two or more terms in advance will receive a full refund
of second semester fees providing the withdrawal is received prior to the fee
payment deadline date of the subsequent term.
Please note: As a Second Career-funded student, all refunds are to be
returned to your funder.

Courses are instructor-led. Students will engage in a variety of applied
learning and experiential activities and will complete multiple industry
projects.

Qualifications:
Our faculty is hired based on a combination of industry experience and
academic qualifications. Most full-time faculty have relevant Master’s
degrees and/or professional certifications where applicable to their field of
expertise.
Our faculty is provided with opportunities to engage in professional
development to ensure currency in their field as well as proficiency in
teaching adults.
Curriculum Design:
All Sheridan’s programs are designed and kept up to
date with input from Program Advisory Committees that include
representation from employers and industry organizations.
Curriculum Design:
The Centre for Teaching and Learning at Sheridan oversees the design of
new programs and courses and maintains a schedule of program review to
keep programs up to date.
Students have the opportunity to complete a formal evaluation of the course
and instructor at the end of each course.
