NEWSLETTER 17
Friday 5th June 2015
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week has been very busy with our Arts Week on the theme of ‘Long, Long Ago…’.My thanks to the staff for their
hard work and enthusiasm. We hope the weather allowed us to celebrate in true style with our whole school banquet
on Friday and that the children enjoyed themselves. The result of their hard work will be able to be seen at our Open
Evening Arts Exhibition in July and a preview will be on show at the Priory Church in the week beginning 15th June.
My thanks to Mrs Hall for organising our Arts Week – also special thanks to our band of parent helpers without which
we couldn’t organise all the activities. We are also very grateful for the support from key parents that share their skills
with us, namely Meg Brockway for supporting the art workshop with the Junior School and to Heidi Dickeson for
helping the children in Foundation.
Foundation Sports Afternoon
Sadly a couple of our Sports afternoons were postponed due to the very changeable weather. We hope to carry out
our Foundation Sports afternoon on 8 th June (next Monday) at 1:30pm as the Junior school field is free. Please
send your child in wearing their PE kit for that day.
Year 2 Sports Afternoon
This will now take place on Thursday 2nd July at 1:30pm on the Junior School field. Fingers crossed for sunshine!

Universal Free School Meals for Infants
Hopefully all families requesting free school lunches have placed their online orders and the children are getting used
to the wider variety of available choices. If you have any concerns please contact Chartwells on 01202 695965. My
thanks to Mrs Chapman and the office team for helping parents with numerous queries.
PTFA Raffle Tickets
All children should have come home this week with two books of raffle tickets for the draw which will take place during
our forthcoming Summer Fair. Please return tickets stubs with payment in a sealed envelope via your child’s
bookbag. Further books are available from the school office and any unwanted books should be returned to school.
Thankyou for your support.
Summer Fair - Plea for Help
Please do help out with the preparations for our Summer Fair and during the fair if you can. It takes place on 27th June
12 noon to 2:30pm but there is always help needed before and after the event. ‘Many hands do indeed make light
work’.

Mufti Days – Themes and Donations
Friday 12th June
The dress-up theme is “Spots & Stripes” and we are asking for donations of
Toys, DVD’s, Unwanted Gifts and Books.
th
Friday 26 June
The dress-up theme is “Summertime” and we are asking fordonations of
cakes or sweets from our Foundation and Year One parents and
Hamper Items (e.g. wine, chocolates, etc.) from our Year Two parents.
Second Hand Uniform
Our stocks are very low at the moment so please hand in any items that you no longer need. It would be particularly
helpful if parents with children leaving this year could hand in items at the end of this term or at the beginning of the
Autumn term so other families can benefit from their generosity. All funds raised goes towards upkeep of our science
garden.
Building Works
The Local Authority are at last addressing the drainage issues around the school site. There will therefore be building
works on site for the remainder of this term and into the Autumn term. The builders will ensure they work in
demarcated areas separated from the children, but parents should be vigilant when supervising children before and
after school.
Waitrose Appeal
During the month of June we are one of the ‘good causes’ in the green token Waitrose scheme at our local store. If
you are in the store please consider placing your token in our collection point. We hope to raise money for art
materials and additional glockenspiels to support class music making.
