Sophomore Scholars 2014 - 2015
Program and Application
Sophomore Scholars is a Morgan Community College program that guarantees grants or scholarships to pay sophomore year tuition and fees up to
30 credits. High school graduates who have successfully completed (with a C or better) 30 credits of MCC college classes as high school juniors and
seniors are invited to apply.
DEADLINE: Completed applications must be RECEIVED at the Fort Morgan Campus by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 for May high school
graduates and Monday, November 3, 2014 for December high school graduates.
Sophomore Scholars Student Eligibility Criteria:
High school graduate concurrently enrolled with Morgan Community College during their junior and/or senior year of high school.
Successful completion (C or better) of 30 or more credit hours with Morgan Community College and at least a 2.0 MCC cumulative grade
point average at the time of high school graduation or no later than the semester immediately following high school graduation.

Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov.
Complete and submit Morgan Community College Sophomore Scholars Program application/essay.
Apply for the College Opportunity Fund stipend at www.CollegeInColorado.org
A copy of your final high school transcript and any requested documentation (tax returns, verification worksheet, etc) must be submitted
by June 14, 2014 for May graduates and January 3, 2015 for December graduates.
Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
Students must qualify for in-state resident status. Students that do not meet in-state resident requirements may apply for other financial
aid programs.
Students may enroll at any MCC location or CCC Online (tuition restrictions apply.)
Morgan Community College Commitment:
Eligible students will receive grant and/or scholarship funds (not a loan or work study) to cover tuition and fees at MCC for an additional
30 hours of course work in an eligible degree. (On-campus, in-state rates only. Non-resident, WUE, online and nursing differential NOT
eligible.) For program lengths longer than 60 credit hours, student will be responsible for cost of additional hours. Books are not
included.
Sophomore Scholars Program will only cover eligible charges for tuition and fees that are not covered by Federal/State grants.
This program is available for up to three academic semesters beginning the summer or fall semester after high school graduation. This
program does not apply to any hours needed during the summer to complete the 30-hour eligibility requirement. Any student who
graduates from high school in mid-year is eligible to enroll in the spring semester if they meet stated student eligibility criteria.
Students must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester but the scholarship/grant with this program is only
guaranteed for the time period of 3 academic semesters after high school graduation. Other financial aid may be available after that
time, but is not guaranteed.
All federal, state, and college rules and regulations regarding financial aid/scholarships apply to this program including MCC Satisfactory
Academic Progress Policy.
Students that qualify for MCC Promise and Sophomore Scholars guarantees cannot receive both awards. Eligible students will receive the
greater of the two awards.
