A+ Schools Program Letter of Agreement
Dear Student and Parents/Guardian:
The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the conditions for eligibility for the A+ Scholarship in accordance with the
guidelines of the A+ Schools Program established by Section 14 of the Senate Bill 380. Students who meet the criteria listed
below can be eligible to have tuition and general fees (Fees are limited to general fees that all students are required to pay.)
subject to legislative appropriation paid for by the state to any Missouri public community college, or career or technical school.
(Funds become available the semester following the student’s graduation.) Funding for the student A+ Scholarship portion of
the A+ Schools Program is the sole responsibility of the State of Missouri. The A+ Schools Program may provide these
educational incentives subject to state funding approval.
The following criteria must all be met for student eligibility (In accordance with Missouri State guidelines a school
district may have a process to review an appeal by a student to meet the A+ Schools Program guidelines. The Van-Far School
District provides such a process for students to submit a request for an appeal. To begin an appeal, contact the A+
Coordinator.)
1. Complete and submit during the senior year the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for federal postsecondary
student financial assistance funds that do not require repayment;(I understand that failure to complete the FAFSA will
jeopardize the receipt of the A+ Scholarship.)
2. Attend an A+ designated school for at least three consecutive years prior to graduation;
3. Have at least 95% attendance record for the four-year period;
4. Graduate with a 4-year cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (not rounded) or higher on a 4-point scale;
5. Perform fifty (50) hours of unpaid academic tutoring which is connected to Van-Far Schools and supervised by a district
employee or approved volunteer of which up to five (5) hours may be job shadowing;
6. Maintain a record of good citizenship and avoid the unlawful use of alcohol and/or drugs and/or unlawful acts
of violence;
7. Register for selective service, if applicable. (I understand that failure to complete, if required, the U.S. Military Selective
Service registration, will jeopardize the receipt of the A+ Scholarship.)
8. Starting with the graduating Class of 2015, students will be required to score proficient or advanced on the Algebra I End of
Course exam.

I understand that disclosure of my Social Security number is optional, and that if I disclose this number it will be used by
the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Missouri Department of Higher Education
(MDHE) for the purposes of determining my eligibility to receive the A+ Scholarship and to make payments to the community
college or career-technical school I attend. I further understand that failure to disclose my Social Security number may result in
delays in the receipt of the A+ Scholarship.

Further, to maintain eligibility after high school graduation, the following criteria must be maintained to continue the A+
Scholarship from the State of Missouri:
1. Enroll and attend full-time at any participating public community college or vocational/technical school, or approved private
two-year vocational/technical school.
2. Be seeking a degree at the institution in which you are enrolled.
3. Not be pursuing a degree or certificate in theology or divinity.
4. Make a good faith effort to secure all available federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Stu dent
Aid (FAFSA).
5. Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (not rounded) or higher on a 4-point scale.

By signing below, the student and parents/guardians are indicating they have been informed by the Van-Far R-I
School District of the criteria for student participation in the A+ Scholarship Program. Permission is hereby given for the
release of A+ Schools Program information, including student records, to the institutions chosen by the student as well as to the
Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Missouri Department of Higher Education as required by
law.
