Your scholarship application will only be considered if you have additionally submitted an online
admissions application via the College’s admissions portal (https://myapplication.kcl.ac.uk/) by no
later than Monday 18th January 2016 at 17.00 GMT. All relevant supporting academic transcripts and
references must be received by the College by no later than Monday 1st February 2016 at 17.00 GMT.

Research proposal
Please note that applicants who wish to apply for this scholarship should submit the same research proposal for
both the scholarship AND the standard application for admission as a fulltime research student; there is no
expectation that your research proposal should be re-written for the scholarship application.
It is essential that you should discuss your topic with your potential supervisor at The Dickson Poon School
of Law when you are drafting your research proposal for this application.
The research proposal must include sufficient information to enable the Selection Panel to assess your suitability
for this award. You should address the following:
1. The theoretical background to the proposed research and its relationship to previous work in the
relevant field;
2. The significance of the proposed research;
3. The likely methodological approach and why it is appropriate to the aims of the project;
4. How your proposed research complements your previous experience and anticipates possible future
research work;
5. Why you feel your project fits with your proposed supervisor’s research and the strengths of The
Dickson Poon School of Law.
Research proposals must NOT exceed 2 sides of A4 (Times New Roman Font size 11) in total. Longer
proposals or those that contain extraneous material will not be considered.
