APPLICATION FOR ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
The Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement (HILR) is a membership organization of 550
retired or semi-retired individuals seeking intellectual engagement and participation in the
Institute’s curricular and extracurricular offerings. Its members are retired faculty, professionals,
businesspersons, scientists, economists and artists.
In addition to offering 60–70 courses each semester on a wide array of subjects, HILR programs
lectures, conferences, dramatic and musical productions, concerts, poetry readings, writing
groups, theatre outings, nature walks, and foreign travel opportunities.
HILR has three tiers of membership:
1. Full Membership;
2. Associate Membership;
3. Alumni/ae Membership
Benefits of Associate Membership:
Associate Membership allows you to participate in the following activities:








Fridays at HILR weekly lecture series (Friday mornings)
Economic Forum weekly lecture series (Friday afternoons)
Distinguished Speaker Series (mid-week afternoons)
Current Event Presentations (mid-week mornings, January and June)
Brown Bag lunches (mid-week 12 noon–1:00 pm) _
Social and Anniversary events
Travel Groups
Special Interest Groups (poetry reading, drama, music, environmental, outings)
We welcome your interest in HILR, and invite you to apply for Associate Membership. The
option to apply for Full Membership is available at any time.
Please download the Application for Associate Membership, complete and save the file then email it as an attachment to Steven Leon (steven_leon @harvard.edu). Your application will be
reviewed and an interview arranged. Once accepted as an Associate, the above activities will be
immediately open to you. You will receive notifications of activities available to Associates.
