TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR THE AWARD OF Ph.D. SCHOLARSHIPS
The following are the terms & conditions for the award of Ph.D Scholarships (overseas) under
Faculty Development Proramme (FDP) of the UAF and the acceptance of the award is an
acknowledgement of these obligations:
1) An awardee will not change the course of studies as specified by the awardee in the
application form or in the letter of award.
2) An awardee will not hold anyother scholarship/stipend during the fellowship period of
his/her studies.
3) Fresh awardee must take/get admission in the department/universities where course work and
research Thesis are compulsory for the award of Ph.D Degree. In such universities in
technological advanced countries the candidates may initiate their admission process at an
early convenience since admission will be the sole responsibility of the scholar.
4) The awardee must submit six monthly progress report through his supervisor.
5) Change of university/institute at any stage of studies is not encouraged but due to
unavoidable circumstances, it will only be admissible giving logical justification with prior
approval of the UAF.
6) Basic Eligibility Criteria
a. Must be a Pakistani/AJK National.
b. Scholar should have a degree with minimum 16 years of education with no 3rd division
or grade ”D” in his/her career.
c. Maximum age is 35 years, except for people working on regular basis (including
temporary likely to become permanent) in public sector institutions whose maximum age
is 40 years, by the closing date of applications.
d. Scholars must qualify the GRE (subject) type test for the FDP scholarship as well as
terms and conditions for the overseas scholarships as may be prescribed or amended from
time to time by the host university.
e. Scholarship will be awarded to candidates in disciplines in which they have earned B.Sc.
/M.Sc. and/or M.Phill degrees.
Qualifying Score for GRE (Subject) Type Test is FIFTY PERCENT (50 %)

7) An awardee has to execute a bond with the UAF to serve in the UAF for five years after
completion of studies.
8) An awardee shall sign an agreement with the UAF on non-judicial papers (stamp papers) to
the effect that in case the awardee fails to complete his/her study, he/she will refund to the
UAF the total amount spent on his/her studies by the UAF. The format for the application
and Deed of Agreement attached must be followed.
9) In addition, a personal guarantee of a person of means Rs. 0.8 million at least on non-judicial
(stamp) paper to the effect of ensuring the recovery in case of default would need to be
furnished, available as attachment and that the certification of financial soundness as
attached.
10) The UAF would monitor the Academic progress/performance of the Awardee as and when
deems necessary.
11) Every Scholar upon completion degree has to deliver a seminar on his/her studies at UAF.
12) Upon completion of degree, the scholars will be absorbed on tenure track at UAF as
Assistant Professor.
13) The awardee will have to fulfill all the formalities as and when required by the host
university/degree awarding institute along with the fulfillment of the requirements of UAF.
14) The degree/certificates provided by the candidate must be duly verified by the concerned
education board in case of metric/F.Sc. and attested copy of equivalence certificate incase of
‘O’ and ‘A’ level by IBCC and HEC In case of (B.Sc./M.Sc./M.Phil etc.
