Statement
This qualification is intended for those who have previous experience in Te Taiao
and are seeking an advanced qualification to manage in their respective Taiao
contexts.

The purpose of this qualification is to strategically integrate mātauranga Taiao
within a global context to maintain and enhance Te Taiao for current and future
generations.
Graduates of this qualification will lead current and future Taiao initiatives for
whanau, hapu, iwi and community.

Graduates will be able to apply the following essential skills and processes in a bi
and multi cultural environment relevant to Te Taiao;
Rangatiratanga: (30 credits)
Articulate strategies to generate solutions based on reflective best practice.
Turangawaewae/ Rangatiratanga (20 credits)
Empower learning and performance of whanau, hapu, iwi, and others to enhance
Te Taiao.
Outcome Statement
Te Pono me te Tika (20 credits)
Analyse, interpret, and adapt constituting documents within kawa, tikanga, and
legislative frameworks to initiate future development for management of te Taiao.
Kaitiakitanga/ Whanaungatanga (30 credits)
Design and develop strategic direction to meet whanau, hapu, and iwi aspirations
for Te Taiao.
Rangatiratanga (20 credits)
Manage and lead learning and performance within dynamic contexts.

Environmental/Conservation management roles, Cultural/Heritage Advisors, Iwi
Resource Consultants, Iwi Monitors, Environmental Resource Managers, Surveyors,
Planners/Developers, Department of Conservation Programme Managers, Local
Government/Crown Agency Advisors.
