New Leader On Boarding Process
Definitions and Directions
PURPOSE: To provide the leader with an orientation process for assimilation and
socialization into the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare culture, which is deeply rooted in the
Mission, Vision, and Values.
OBJECTIVE: A standardized 90-day New Leader On Boarding system approach, to ensure
successful job performance.
PROCESS OWNER: Leadership Development in partnership with Human Resources
SUPPORT ROLES:
 Hiring Supervisor: Accountable for the leader’s 90 day on boarding process. The
hiring supervisor or designee will introduce the NLO Checklist. Provide an overview of
the 90-day process. Identify a mentor/preceptor as appropriate. Work with ODLD
manager to ensure the leader is scheduled to attend appropriate meetings and new
leader core courses. Checks in with leader to determine progress on the checklist.
Submits completed NLO Checklist to Human Resources.

Human Resources: Ensures new leaders are integrated into the 90 day on boarding
process. E-mails the Hiring Supervisor the NLO checklist. Coaches the Hiring
Supervisor on the NLO process. Files the completed NLO checklist into the leader’s
HR file.

Organization and Leadership Development: Partners with Human Resources to
ensure the on boarding process is taking place. Available as a Coach and resource to
HR and the Hiring Leader regarding core leadership courses and checklist.
PARTICIPANTS:
 New leaders and newly promoted/transferred leaders who will be utilizing the LEAD or
GPA Performance Appraisal Tool
 The newly appointed leader will participate in the New Leader On Boarding Process
as scheduled by Human Resources/ and the Hiring Leader.
