Bauer Terms of New Scholarships: Amitava Bose Memorial Scholarship Awarded annually by the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, on the recommendation of the Director of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, to an outstanding international student entering a graduate program in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Carleton University. Preference will be for a student who does not have an undergraduate degree in pure mathematics. This scholarship is intended to support students who do not have other significant scholarship support. Endowed in 2006 by Mrs. Ghislaine Bose in memory of her husband Amitava Bose, PhD/77, former associate professor at Carleton University in the School of Mathematics and Statistics. Steel Structures Education Foundation Scholarship Value $3,000. Awarded annually, to a student enrolled in the 4th year of the Bachelor of Architecture program or the Master of Architecture program, studying the use and design of steel products. Eligible recipients must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada (landed immigrant or a protected person). Should the recipient be a graduate student, the scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, on the recommendation of the Director of the School of Architecture. Established 2007 by the Steel Structures Education Foundation (SSEF). The Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) is the national industry organization representing the structural steel, open web steel joist and steel platework fabricating industries. The Steel Structures Education Foundation is a special initiative of the CISC. Its mandate is to develop and support steel-related education. NB This is a both award and will be administered by undergraduate awards. Luther/Macdonald Bursary for International Students in Social Work Value $500. Awarded annually to an international student enrolled in the School of Social Work at Carleton University. Eligible recipients will be international students from outside of Canada and the United States of America, in good academic standing and require financial assistance in order to continue their studies. Should the recipient be a graduate student, the bursary will be awarded by the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research on the recommendation of the Director of the School of Social Work. Established in 2007 by Rashmi Luther, MSW/83 and John Macdonald Revision of Terms: Prof. Ata Khan Sustainable Transportation Grad Scholarship Old Terms: Awarded annually, when merited, by the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, on the recommendation of the Chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, to outstanding students in the second year of either the master's or doctoral program in Civil Engineering. The successful candidates' research should be in the area of sustainable transportation, as defined by the United Nations or the Canadian Federal Government. This scholarship was endowed in 2005 by Professor Ata Khan, a faculty member in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Students must submit an application, which includes a description of their intended or ongoing thesis research to the Chair of the Graduate Studies Committee by March 1 of each year. Established in 2002 by Thomas L. White, Ph.D. (Carleton) in Earth Sciences and former Director of the Geotechnical Science Laboratories at Carleton University. New Terms: Awarded annually, on the recommendation of the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, to a graduate student who is conducting northern research.
