Applicants must be a part-time or full-time enrolled students or accepted students in a
paralegal education program or college level program with emphasis in paralegal studies.
They must demonstrate they have maintained a "B" average. Selection will be based
upon scholastic excellence, participation in campus and paralegal program leadership
activities, community service, and review of the writing sample. Proven need for
financial assistance may be considered. NFPA membership is not a requirement.

The Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program will award approximately 30
scholarships to students currently attending community colleges or two-year institutions
and planning to transfer to four-year institutions in fall 2004. The scholarship awards
will provide funding for tuition, room and board, books, and other required fees for the
remainder of the Jack Kent Cooke Scholar's bachelor's degree, generally two years.

Roothbert Fund scholarships are open to all in the United States regardless of sex, age,
color, nationality or religious background. While the Fund does not emphasize any
particular form of religious practice or worship, it seeks to provide support to persons
motivated by spiritual values. The Fund has awarded grants to persons entering a wide
range of careers. However, preference will be given to those who can satisfy high
scholastic requirements and are considering careers in education.

 The La Unidad Latina Foundation Scholarship
Educational scholarships are awarded to students on a competitive basis. Students must
be of Hispanic background, must have completed at least one year of higher education,
and are enrolled in an accredited community college, undergraduate four-year college or

Lehman Scholarships have been awarded annually to African-American students who are
pursuing undergraduate or law degrees. Lehman undergraduates are required to be U.S.

recommendations from teachers, community representatives, and employers. Their
community and school involvements must demonstrate that they have exceptional
leadership potential.

Earl Warren Civil Rights Training Scholarships are awarded each year to 15-20 new
students whose community involvement activities and leadership qualities demonstrate
outstanding potential for training as civil rights and public interest attorneys. These
awards are limited to U.S. citizens and preference is given to students who are entering
their first year of full-time study. Also, The Earl Warren Shearman & Sterling
Scholarships are two special stipends sponsored by Sherman & Sterling, and are awarded
annually to talented African-American students who are entering law school.

The NIH Undergraduate Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to students who
show a commitment to pursuing careers in biomedical, behavioral, and social science
health-related research. The following are the basic requirements:
- U.S. citizen, national, or qualified non-citizen.
- Enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student for the 2004-2005 academic
year at an accredited undergraduate institution.
- From a disadvantaged background. Disadvantaged background means that your
financial aid office has certified you as having “exceptional financial need.”
- 3.5 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale) or within the top 5 percent of your class.

Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) award rewards high school
scholar athletes who know the importance of good nutrition to help fuel academic and
athletic activity and are chosen by a celebrity panel of milk mustache athletes. In
addition, the 25 outstanding scholar athletes will receive a spot in a special milk
mustache ad that will run in an issue of USA Today. Winners will also receive an allexpense paid trip to a special awards ceremony at The Milk House at Disney's Wide
World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. along with their picture in the SAMMY Hall of Fame
located in the Milk House. Applicants will be required to describe in 75 words or less

The Casualty Actuarial Society/Society of Actuaries scholarship program is available to
the following groups that are under-represented in the actuarial profession: African
American, Hispanic, and Native North American. An applicant must be either a U.S.
citizen or have a permanent resident visa. A scholarship applicant should have taken
either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the ACT Assessment. Applicants must be
admitted to a college or university offering either a program in actuarial science or
courses that will serve to prepare the student for an actuarial career.

Students will have the opportunity to conduct full time summer research with an ASM
member and present research results at the 2005 ASM General Meeting. Students will:
agree to participate in an undergraduate summer research program in any U.S. institution
other than their own, conduct a research project for a minimum of 8 weeks beginning in
the summer of 2004, work with a faculty mentor who is an ASM member, submit a
research abstract to ASM for presentation at the 2005 ASM General Meeting.
