China University of Geosciences (Wuhan)
China University of Geosciences, found in 1952, is a national leading university under the direct leadership of the Ministry of
Education, one of the first group university listed in the national "211" Project. China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) is
located at the food of the Nanwangshan Hill of East Lake, a famous scenic spot and covers an area of 1,140,430 square meters.
Through more than 50 years development, the university has become a famous university with the strong competitive edge in
geology, resources, environment, and geological engineering technology combining the science and engineering academic
disciplines with the social sciences and management academic disciplines. A complete educational system, with multi-channels
and multi-levels, has already been formed in the university, including programs for bachelors, masters and doctorial degrees.
The enrollment totals more than 45,000 students. Among them, around 24,000 students are full time students working for

“Environmental Science and Engineering” Post-graduates Program
School of Environmental Studies in China University of Geosciences, located in Wuhan, China, includes 4 departments: the
Department of Water Resource and Hydrogeology, the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, the Department
of Biological Science and Technology, and the Department of Environmental Geology. The school holds Post-doctoral
Research Center of Environmental Science and Engineering. The school also can confer Ph. D. and Master Degree on
Hydrology and Water Resource, Environmental Science and Engineering, and Environmental Geology, as well as Master
Degrees on Groundwater Science and Engineering, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Atmospheric Physics and
Science. Up to date, there are over 50 faculties and staffs in the school including 16 professors and 10 associate professors.
The school launches 3-year Ph D and 2-year master programs conducted in English for international students since 2006
entrusted by THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION and CHINA SCHOLARSHIP COUNCIL in field of Environmental Science
and Engineering, There are about 20 Ph. D. students and 60 Master students in the school now,
The main courses offered in the programs include Environmental Microbiology, Numeric Modeling In Water Chemistry,
Environmental Geology, Groundwater Pollution And Prevention, Advanced Environmental Chemistry, Analytical Technology
In Environmental Science, Environmental Monitoring, Environmental Engineering Design, Principles And Applications Of
GIS, Water Pollution Control Engineering, Environmental Isotope, Treatment And Disposal Of Solid Waste, Environmental
Assessment, Environmental Toxicology, etc. The research focuses on water-soil pollution and remediation technique,
environmental assessment, groundwater environment and remediation, water resource assessment and groundwater system,
and biology and ecology.
