7th July 2015
Dear Parents,
RE-ARRANGED FEDERATION SPORTS DAY
Our Sports Day will now take place on Tuesday 14th July. Junior races will take place in the morning,
starting at approximately 9.15am and will be finished by 11.45am. Infant children will be expected to be in
class during this time.
If you would like to order a lunch for your child for our re-arranged sports day, please see the other side of
this letter.
As last year, there will be a family picnic lunch at approximately 12.00 on the small junior school field. This
is an opportunity for families who have brought a picnic lunch with them to be able to have their family
lunch with their infant and junior children.
Parents with children in the infant school can collect them after 11.45am from their external classroom
door so they can join parents for the picnic lunch. Please could you return your child/ren back to the infant
playground for 12.50 so that they are ready for afternoon registration. A bell will ring at 12.45 to indicate
this. Junior school children will be able to come and join their families on the field at mid-day after the end
of the junior sports day.
Please note that children may only attend the picnic with their own children due to supervision
arrangements. Parents will need to be responsible for the supervision of their son/ daughter until they are
returned back to class at the end of lunchtime.
At the end of lunchtime, junior children will line up in their normal places and go back into school to carry
on with afternoon lessons. This will allow parents and other family members the opportunity to focus on
their child/ren taking part in the infant races.
The infant school will have their sports day from 1.15pm. The infant school sports day will also take place
on the junior school field.
The children will be involved in a wide variety of competitive races on the main field, including novelty
races such as the egg and spoon, as well as running. The children will be organised into their house teams
and will compete to contribute to the team‘s overall score.
We expect that sports day will finish about 3pm and you will be able to take your child/ren home slightly
early, if you would like to. If you have children in the junior school you can collect them early as well.
On this day, the children should come to school in their PE kit and will be able to wear it for the whole day.
If the weather is sunny, children should wear a sunhat and sun cream. Children should also ensure that
they have their water bottle filled and with them throughout the afternoon. The correct sports kit is:
Trainers
Black or Navy blue shorts
White or Green T-shirt
Children should remove jewellery or if your child wears studs that cannot be removed, please provide
surgical tape to cover them. Long hair must be tied back.
We hope that you will join us as all support is welcome. You will be able to watch the events from the grass
bank which overlooks the running track.
Lunch
As part of our Sports Day there will be the opportunity for families to bring a picnic lunch from home to
have on the field. We have organised a special picnic school dinner option that will be available to all
children.

If you would like your child to have a school dinner picnic lunch please complete the attached slip and
return it to school by 9.00am Friday 10th July. We will be unable to order extra school meals after this date.
As all staff will be helping with sports day there will not be any hot school dinners so if your child does not
want to have a picnic lunch, they will need to bring in a packed lunch from home on that day.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Fingers crossed for good weather. We will make any weather based decisions on the morning of sports day
and inform you by text.
Yours sincerely
