Classification Fitness > Group Fitness Instruction Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Definitions Choreography refers to how a series of exercises are performed and linked together to create an exercise routine. Pre-choreographed routine refers to one or more classes in a programme of exercises performed to music in a sequence created by somebody else. CRC – Connect, Recommend, Commend. 2 All activities must be consistent with the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. 3 The candidate must be assessed instructing a class of at least five participants. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Prepare to instruct a Pre-choreographed routine. Evidence requirements 1.1 Routine is demonstrated in accordance with Pre-choreographed programme. Range 1.2 no more than two obvious omissions. Physical execution of movement is technically correct in accordance with Prechoreographed programme. Range position and posture, control, range of movement, maintaining form when moving in time with the music. Evidence requirements 2.1 Class environment and resources are managed in accordance with Prechoreographed programme. Range 2.2 Skills are instructed in an assertive manner in accordance with Prechoreographed programme. Range 2.3 facial, gestural, physical directional cues visual cues, mirror imaging, right footing. Vocal quality and contrast is applied in accordance with Pre-choreographed programme. Range 2.5 word selection, safety instruction, technique correction, coaching. Visual instruction is applied in accordance with Pre-choreographed programme. Range 2.4 equipment prepared, audio levels, lighting and ventilation. pronunciation and articulation, projection, tone, volume, speed. Timing of cueing is in accordance with Pre-choreographed programme. Range verbal and non-verbal pre-cues, initial cues, motivational, correctional cues, follow up cues, CRC. Outcome 3 Perform a Pre-choreographed routine. Evidence requirements 3.1 Differences between musical and movement expression are demonstrated in accordance with Pre-choreographed programme. Range 3.2 use of introductions, transitions, finales, peaks, humour, poise and flair, timing, strength and energy, emotion, rhythm, passion. Personal presentation role models success in accordance with Prechoreographed programme. Range well-groomed, appropriate tidy standard of attire, fit for the programme taught. Range dramatic presentation, authenticity, composure, use of feedback, setting clear outcomes, timing, contrast. Outcome 4 Communicate a Pre-choreographed routine. Evidence requirements 4.1 Pre-class interaction demonstrates motivational skills in accordance with Prechoreographed programme. Range 4.2 greeting participants, socialising with participants, creating an atmosphere. Introduction and close demonstrates ability to engage participants in accordance with Pre-choreographed programme. Range 4.3 class focussed, timely and personal, references to and options for new participants, low impact modifications, class plan outlined. Communication promotes class and individual focus throughout the routine in accordance with Pre-choreographed programme. Range 4.4 communication in-between tracks, eye contact made with class, word selection that is inclusive of the group, safety reminders, eye contact, smiles and personalised talk directed to individuals. Post-class interaction demonstrates motivational skill in accordance with Prechoreographed programme. Range congratulations and farewell, mingling, extra information about the programme.
