Humphreys Junior High
We always test in mid-April at Pine Ridge Church, 3900 South Hiawassee Road, Orlando, 32835. This is
the location for Pine Ridge Home Educators classes. prhe.net
For test preparation, I recommend Scoring High on the ITBS, published by McGraw Hill/SRA.
The Iowa Test of Basic Skills is administered over a three-day period, Monday – Wednesday, from 9 a.m.
until noon. Moms are encouraged to take their children somewhere fun for lunch each day after testing.
Following testing on Tuesday, you are all welcome to stay and watch a movie with us and eat pizza. On
Wednesday we will go to Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf to celebrate, and you are all invited.
Please arrive at the church least 10 minutes early, and please pick up your child on time at noon. If your
child is sick and can’t attend one day, please call me by 8:30 to let me know. 407-451-9351
Bring:




several sharpened #2 pencils (not mechanical pencils, as they are not dark enough)
a big eraser
a book to read if you finish a test early
a healthy snack and a water bottle for the mid-morning break
Do NOT bring:
 electronic devices such as games or I-pods
 a backpack, as space is limited
 anything that makes noise or is distracting
 Phones must be turned OFF and handed to me before testing. Better yet, leave them at home or in
the car.
Proper attire: Modest, comfortable clothing. No shorts or skirts for girls, please, or low-cut, tight blouses.
Pants should not be too tight or revealing. Tee shirts may be worn as long as they do not contain any
messages that may be distracting or disturbing. Modesty and good common sense is the key here.
Seats will be assigned by grade level. Parents, I cannot stress too strongly how very important is it for
students to be able to sit still, quietly, during testing. Please impress on your child the importance of not
being a distraction to others who are trying to do their best.
If your child has a specific learning disability, please indicate on the enrollment form what modifications
need to be made for testing.
As soon as I receive the test results, I will e-mail them to you, along with an explanation of the scores.
I am also a certified teacher and can sign your end-of-the-year evaluation if you choose that option instead.
If so, contact me in April, and we can set an appointment in early to mid-May for an evaluation. The cost
for this service is $50 per child.
Feel free to e-mail me with any questions you have. I look forward to seeing you soon!
