Magnetic Therapy for Beauty Therapists
By Dr Danné Montague-King
I have written many articles on
Electromagnetic Therapy for the
physician and aesthetician over
the years, but now, due to the
phenomenon of PC Skin (rashes
and
disorders
triggered
by
personal
computers)
the
importance of this great tool of
Nature and Man has become a
reality.
Artificial magnetic fields may be
referred to as unhealthy fields,
although it is difficult to prove this
point. Many researchers try to
prove the unhealthy effects of
artificially
created
magnetic
fields, while on the other hand
strong economic interests fight
against
research
into
this
particular subject.
Continuous research in this area
has lead to the development of
highly sophisticated machines,
priced at every level that not only
work with active botanies in
beauty therapy, but speed up skin
and body treatments 70% faster.
Many experiments have shown that
human beings, animals and plants
do not thrive in an environment
with less than the natural
terrestrial
magnetism.
Experiments
with
animals
demonstrate quite clearly that
when confined to a cage with thick
steel walls, impenetrable by
magnetic fields, they quickly
contract diseases and usually die
after a short time. If the reverse is
applied, namely placing sick
animals in well-defined pulsating
magnetic fields, they then become
well.
The following article details the
activity of electromagnetic waves
and the importance of their role in
the healing arts.
What is magnetic therapy? Human
beings, animals and plants live
their lives in two different
magnetic fields. There are natural,
environmentally friendly, slightly
pulsating
terrestrial
magnetic
fields, and the artificially created
magnetic fields produced by high
voltage lines, TV and radio signals,
neon lights, computer screens and
other electrical installations and
apparatus.
There is no question that natural
magnetic fields are healthy, as we
have lived in harmony with them
for many generations in the form
of the earth's own magnetic fields,
namely the North and South Pole.
Magnetic Therapy has been well
researched and documented for
over twenty years. Its use and
practice extends across the globe,
with particular use in Italy, Spain.
Germany, Denmark, Russia, Japan
and the USA.
Magnetic
Therapy
is
highly
regarded as an effective treatment
by
Physiotherapists,
Osteopaths, Chiropractors and
Remedial Therapists.
How does magnetic Therapy
work?
Better Oxygen Uptake. Magnetic
fields affect the four oxygen
carrying iron atoms in the
haemoglobin molecule so that they
are better able to absorb one
oxygen molecule each.
The oxygen partial pressure, pO2
(not blood pressure) increases in
the process, as a sign that the
blood cells are becoming saturated
with oxygen. This process can be
measured with an oxygen partial
pressure meter (pO2 meter).
Athletes and animal sports stars
exploit this capacity to absorb
more oxygen by taking magnetic
field therapy immediately before a
sports performance. In this way
they delay the moment when the
production of lactic acid starts to
make the muscles sore and weary.
Their performances get better but
they also become exhausted
because they use up more energy!
This fact explains why some
countries have forbidden magnetic
field therapy for racehorses during
the last few days before a race
The ability to absorb more oxygen
during magnetic field treatment
starts after only a few minutes and
reaches its maximum level after
approximately 15 minutes. The
oxygen partial pressure can
increase 2 to 4 times.
Blood Vessel Dilation - Greater
Circulation Velocity.
During magnetic field therapy at
certain frequencies the blood
vessels and capillaries dilate just a
little. When the blood cell absorbs
more oxygen it acquires a suitably
aerodynamic shape and loses the
tendency to stick to other blood
cells. The greater volume of the
blood vessels together with the
improved aerodynamics of the
blood cells, increases the velocity
of blood flow.
Measurements of blood pressure
and pulse show that these do not
change significantly during and
after magnetic field treatment.
Improved Circulation Patients
with poor circulation in hands, legs
and feet may notice immediately
after magnetic field treatment
how comfortably warm these have
become. The warmth has arisen
because of the increase in blood
circulation velocity, whilst at the
same time all the small capillaries
of the epidermis will have
received a better supply of oxygen
and nourishment, and the waste
products will have been carried
away.
Patients should feel more relaxed
after a treatment and their
muscles and joints should not feel
stiff and sore as before. The
increase in blood penetration to
the epidermis can be easily
demonstrated by thermography.
Thermography clearly shows that
the
cutaneous
temperature
increases steadily throughout the
treatment.
The
temperature
increase, which amounts to a total
of 1-2 degrees C, begins after only
3 to 5 minutes of treatment.
After a series of treatments the
waste
products
(such
as
accumulations of uric acid in legs
and feet) will have been drained
off to such an extent that the
circulation will become more
normalised.
Normalisation of Cell Membrane
Metabolism. A living cell is
surrounded by a membrane
through
which
various
vital
substances may pass in and out.
The capacity of the membrane to
allow or impede penetration is'
called
permeability.
The
permeability is controlled by an
electrical phenomenon. When the
cell is healthy and in a resting
state, the potential difference
between the outside and inside of
the cell membrane is about 70
millivolts (mv = a thousandths of a
volt). The potential difference is
the resultant of the total
electrical potential arising from
ions penetrating the membrane
and from passive diffusion and
osmosis. The potential of the muscle and nerve cells is about 90 mv
and that of cancer cells about 10
mv. These electrical potentials
can be measured with a VoltMeter.
If the permeability of the cell
membrane is not normal however,
a dysfunction of the cell arises,
and the cell dies unless treatment
is given. If the membrane
potential is too weak in a group of
similar cells, and the group of cells
is subjected to a magnetic field
which pulsates with a certain
frequency, the potential is raised
and the group of cells begins to
function normally again.
Living Cell. It has been shown that
"certain pulsation rates correspond
to certain groups of cells". You
might say that the magnetic
frequencies are in resonance with
alternating voltage frequencies of
the cells themselves.
If
you
wish
to
fight
an
inflammatory condition, then very
low frequencies should be used,
for example 2 to 5 magnetic pulses
per second (2-5 Hertz). If you wish
to treat a Parodontosis the best
frequency to use is 9.35 Hertz. In
the case of Pseudoarthrosis
(broken bones that heal with
difficulty), 72.00 Hertz should be
used.
Every cell has its own electric
frequency or "signal" which can be
amplified or normalised when
exposed to a magnetic field which
pulsates with the same frequency.
If you expose a certain cell group
to a pulsating frequency different
from its own, it hardly reacts. It is
not possible to change the
frequencies of the cell groups
themselves, and therefore you
cannot
give
an
incorrect
treatment.
North Pole or South Pole
Magnetism. Most of our cells have
"negative" electrical charges. Many
other cells however have a
positive charge. It is therefore
important to know whether
positive or negative magnetism
should
be
imparted
during
treatment.
Inflammatory conditions and nerve
problems should be treated with
negative
magnetism
(-).
Philosophically, you might say
these cases indicate a surplus of
energy, part of it should be
removed - sedated - through a
reduction in energy potential.
Reactions. When the metabolism
and
blood
circulation
are
increased, the removal of waste
products is affected and is
rejected in a very concentrated
form. This will be noticeable both
to
the
patient
and
the
surroundings,
because
the
exhalation, body sweat, urine and
defecation will smell stronger.
The patient will also notice a
prickling sensation in wounds, scar
fractures, varicose veins, inflamed
areas and in the blood vessels
suffering from arteriosclerosis.
Some
patients
experience
sensations of warmth and cold, or
become slightly uncomfortable and
tired. Changes of mood can arise
and in some cases earlier diseases
may temporarily occur.
All of the above reactions should
be recorded by the practitioner as
signs that certain processes have
been set in train.
The practitioner must adjust the
intensity of the treatment and the
number of minutes of treatment in
order to control these reactions,
so that they do not become too
strong, but are correctly dosed so
that they become physically
noticeable.
If the patient does not experience
any of the above reactions, this
can indicate either that the
patient's condition may not be
helped by magnetic therapy or
that the appropriate frequency or
polarity has not been found.
There are new scanning computer
chips now available in many
machines, probably one of the
best going is the DER-MAFIELD,
manufactured in England. This
scanning property allows the
therapist to actually read their
client's field and programme in the
appropriate treatment. The best
thing
about
electromagnetic
therapy is that it need not be
placed on the face directly during
a facial treatment like galvanic or
Sinsoidal units. Any advanced skin
treatment therapy can be carried
on whilst the client is attached to
the electromagnetic
antennas
placed elsewhere on the body.
We have seen remarkable results
in cases of acne, rosacea and aging
treatments. Least of all the
abilities of the electromagnetic
machine is the elimination of
stress - a major contributor to
aging.
