NEWSLETTER IN ST ANTHONY’S
NURSERY
May Themes: People Who Help Us , Mini Beasts and Zoo
Animals. During May we will be introducing Summer and looking out
for Mini beasties. We will encourage the children to care for God’s creatures
no matter whether they are big or small.
This is a very busy term with lots of changes for home time collection because of
Open Days and new schools visits.
Please note due to family circumstances Mrs Anne Davey will be unavailable until
further notice. Mrs Ann Mc Ferran will continue to work as class teacher in Mrs
Davey's room and Miss Roisin Gallagher will take on the role of Acting Principal.
Car Parking:
Some parents have complained about vehicles parking and doing ‘quickie’ drop offs
directly outside the Nursery walkway and steps. This
causes
obstruction to other vehicle users at the busy times of
8:50am
and 1:30pm and is unfair to other parents. I would ask
everyone
to be considerate and responsible road users please.
Outdoor Sun Care: Our policy is for the children to wear a sun hat when outside
during hot weather. These hats stay in your child’s drawer and does not go home.
In anticipation of hot sunny days please ensure that sunscreen is applied before your
child comes to nursery.
May Bank Holidays: please note the school will be closed on Monday 5th and
Monday 26th of May
Tooth Brushing Programme: Our tooth brushing programme in school
commences in May. This will happen each day after dinner and lunch.
Many thanks for supporting our home tooth brushing programme during March and
April. Please continue to reinforce good habits starting early by brushing teeth in
the morning and last thing at night and reinforcing healthy foods and drinks at lunch
time. You are making a difference to your child’s future health.
Sport’s Day– Throughout May we will be practising hard for Sports Day. Please
ensure your child is wearing trainers and not sandals for safety reasons. We hope to
have a final day of sports for the children at the end of May (weather permitting.)
Unfortunately we are unable to have parents at Sports Day as it is a moveable date.

Change of Clothing:
Please check your child’s clothing bag in the
bathrooms – some children don’t have any change of clothes and we are
running short. Return all Nursery clothing as soon as possible please.
Zoo Trip: On Thursday 29th May we are heading to the zoo with a Travelwise
coach. We would be grateful for your assistance again with supervision on
the
day of the trip please. The bus for the children will leave at 9.15am
sharp and will return for 2.00pm.
If you are able to help supervise and assist with a
parent car pool to the Zoo it would be much
appreciated. Thank you.
Please dress for the weather and ensure your child is wearing suitable footwear.
A small snack will be provided for the children by the school. Please ensure all
children bring a packed lunch which they can carry in a back pack (leaving their hands
free). Children receiving free meals will be provided with a packed lunch by the
school kitchen. No glass bottles for lunch please.
This is our last school trip.
Children’s Lending Library: The Children’s Lending Library will finish on
Tuesday 27th May and the Story Sacks will finish on Wednesday 28th May.
Transition Reports: will be available to parents from Tuesday 3rd June. Please
use the following two days ( 4th and 5th June) to speak to your class teacher if you
have any queries, thank you.
Art Exhibition 2014: This year to raise money for the nursery school we are
holding our first ever Art Exhibition. The children will paint onto a real canvases and
each child will be presented with a personalised program and their canvas to take
home on the day. The Exhibition will take place on Wednesday 25th June from
1.00pm. Light refreshments will be provided for parents and families. We are asking
parents for a donation of £5 and this go towards art materials and refreshments.

End of Year Summer Concert and Graduation:
Children finish school on
the 27th June. They will come to school at the normal time and the concert will
begin at 10.30 a.m. More details to follow in June.
