Lunch time meal will keep 65 orphan girls in school at Matopeni village in Nairobi. Without this meal, the girls are engaged in prostitution and forced labor in the nearby quarry mining activities daily Girl prostitution, forced labor and school dropout is very high in Matopeni village in Nairobi. Majority of these girls are orphans below age 14. With a population of 50,000 residents, Matopeni has over 10,000 orphans. This is denying the children especially girl children right to education, health and food. Without an education and feeding they have no way out. This program will give 65 girls an education and help them succeed until they can support themselves and ultimately their families. The meals will keep the girls in school. The girls will no longer look for labor and engage in prostitution. Once they are educated, the girls will break the circle of poverty in the family. Once the girls are educated and secured their livelihood, they will influence the community to embrace vulnerable children. We believe other neighboring communities will replicate this project so as to reach out to many more orphans.
