Monies will be utilized in the form of a grant for student participation at both undergraduate and professional conferences. Any of the named Student Leadership Conference Grant experiences will lend themselves useful to not only the individual and his/her student organization, but moreover, prove invaluable to the greater college community. Goal Such opportunities are designed to provide leadership training and prepare student leaders to become citizens of the world. National conference participation will enable students to effectively position themselves into a job market that demands leadership and the ability to be promotable. Participation will allow students to compete nationally for student leadership executive positions. Program will enhance the visibility and credibility of the Gateway Community College degree. Such opportunities will allow students to acquire the tools and resources to facilitate positive student interaction and the freedom of exchange within the students’ respective leadership roles. By accepting the Grant, the student will be required to present information gathered to the college community to further educate and promote the program and the leadership initiatives. Criteria for Application Student(s) must be in and maintain good academic, financial and judicial standing with the College, be an active member of an SGA recognized student organization, be eighteen years of age or older, and have a minimum 2.0 Grade Point Average. Represented Student Organization(s) must be in good standing with the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Programs. Each recipient must successfully complete the application process. Specific criteria may vary depending on Student Leadership Conference Grant. Student(s) must have prior demonstrable leadership experience. Student(s) must also continue their involvement in student leadership activities at Gateway Community College. Student(s) must sign a contract ensuring their complete participation in all aspects of the Conference experience. Application Process The application process will be facilitated by the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Programs and will work with the organizational advisors/supervisors to interview and determine best-qualified Student Leadership Conference Grant recipient(s), where applicable. Student(s) must fully complete an application and personal student leadership philosophy statement and submit it to the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Programs. Student(s) must submit a confidential recommendation from one peer student leader, one faculty member and one College administrator.
