SPPI Methodology
Surveyed products
 Product list defined with the respondents (8)
 Specific products or transactions agreed with
each individual observation unit (5)
 Standard statistical product list (e.g. CPA) (4)
 Self developed product list (2)
Data collection
 Postal and phone surveys
 Electronic questionnaires via mail
 Electronically reporting system

Quality Adjustment
 VBG agenda items in 2010 and 2011
 Implicit methods preferred
 Overlap method
 Comparable replacement
www.statistik.at
slide 14 | 13 April 2015
Main Conclusions
 Turnover part is well developed
 A sample of few enterprises results in a market
coverage above 70% in regard to turnover coverage
 Flexible economy class booking categories should
also be considered for SPPIs
 Monthly/Quarterly average prices presumably more
accurate in regard to the characteristics of yield
management systems
www.statistik.at
slide 15 | 13 April 2015
Main Conclusions cont.
 CPI data for air transport for b2b SPPIs
or the consumer part of b2all SPPIs
(two other methods lead)
 IATAs Cargo Account Settlement System (CASS)
for freight air transport
 Electronically reporting systems
 To quality adjust in the case that the production
function has changed
