Objective – Build up community preparedness in handling disaster situation through the following activities: • • • Identification of disaster risks in their surrounding (town watching) Production of Hazard Maps Training on basic first aid and fire fighting MUKIM LABI BELAIT DISTRICT (20 – 21 MAC 2010) MUKIM RAMBAI TUTONG DISTRICT (24 – 25 APRIL 2010) MUKIM BANGAR & MUKIM BOKOK TEMBURONG DISTRICT (11 – 12 MEI 2010) MUKIM TAMOI BRUNEI MUARA DISTRICT (7 – 8 JUN 2010) INCIDENT COMMAND SISTEM • ASEAN-US cooperation project, provided by United States Department of Agriculture - Forest Service • The Philippines and Brunei as pilot countries. • Objective - to develop a single common incident command system for all agencies in Brunei Darussalam so that responses and actions will be more coordinated especially in a multi-agencies operation during complex disaster situations ICS PROGRAMS • 8 & 9 February 2010. Workshop entitled "Incorporating the Incident Command System into the Brunei Darussalam Disaster Management System“ . • 13 April 2010. Table Top Exercise on a “gas blow-out” scenario, to introduce the ICS concept to the first responders. • 10 June 2010. Evacuation exercise for the resident of Mukim Tamoi of Kampong Ayer to test the ICS concept involving the community. • 10 June 2010 - Executive briefing on application of ICS on Disaster Operation. STRATEGIC NATIONAL ACTION PLAN (SNAP) FOR DRR HFA & SNAP WORKSHOP 25 – 26 MAY 2010 • As preparation for the formulation of “Strategic National Action Plan for Disaster Risk Reduction of Brunei Darussalam •Introducing the concept of “Multi-Sectoral National Platform for DRR” •Facilitated by experts from ASEAN Secretariat and UN ISDR. •Participated by government agencies, NGOs and CSOs. •Agreed that Brunei SNAP will be guided by AADMER and HFA HFA Progress • 4th Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) i.e. 25 - 28 October Conclusion • Progressive shift in disaster management system, strengthening multi-sectoral cooperation and DRR-focused. • The importance of linking the national capacity with AADMER. • Brunei Darussalam committed to implement DRR by formulating SNAP, to be aligned with AADMER and HFA.
