Vagimed® gaat gebruiken, óók als u dit medisch hulpmiddel al eerder heeft gebruikt. De informatie kan zijn gewijzigd volgens de laatste inzichten en gegevens wanneer u aan een nieuwe verpakking begint. Bewaar deze gebruiksaanwijzing; het kan nodig zijn deze tussentijds te raadplegen.
Vaginale klachten: Vaginale klachten worden vaak geassocieerd met jeuk, irritatie, roodheid, droogheid, een branderig gevoel, pijn tijdens geslachtsgemeenschap of overmatige of onprettig ruikende vaginale afscheiding. De meeste vaginale klachten worden veroorzaakt door een verstoring in de vaginale milieu.

In het geval van vaginale droogheid wordt aanbevolen om de capsule met water te bevochtigen alvorens deze in de vagina in te brengen. De aanbevolen dosis niet overschrijden.
Inbrengen van de capsule:
Gebruik uw vrije hand om de schaamlippen te spreiden en breng de capsule voorzichtig zo diep mogelijk in de vagina in.

Vaginale microfl ora: Er leeft een enorm aantal bacteriën, de zogenaamde microfl ora of het ‘vaginale milieu’, in de vagina.
De zuurtegraad van de vagina is van nature laag. Dit is een belangrijke factor voor een goede regulering van de vaginale microfl ora. Vooral de melkzuurbacteriën spelen een belangrijke rol bij de bescherming. Deze bacteriën zijn verantwoordelijk voor het zure milieu van de vagina, waardoor de vagina beschermd wordt tegen de meest schadelijke micro-organismen. Deze micro-organismen gedijen niet goed in een zure omgeving. Een verandering in de zuurtegraad, zelfs een tijdelijke verandering, is voldoende om de samenstelling van de vaginale microfl ora te veranderen. Het vaginale milieu kan verstoord raken als de melkzuurbacteriën worden overheerst door schadelijke bacteriën of schimmels. Hierdoor kunnen verschillende klachten ontstaan.
Een verstoring van het natuurlijke evenwicht van de vagina kan leiden tot een vaginale infectie (zoals bacteriële vaginose of een schimmelinfectie).
Ingrediënten van de vaginale capsule: Microkristallijne cellulose, hypromellose, talk, lactobacillus acidophilus vysk8 70 mld, polycarbofi l, gedroogd extract van kattendoorn (ononis spinosa), gedroogd cranberrysap, melkzuur, titaniumdioxide, calciumlactaat, magnesiumhydroxide, siliciumdioxide, calciumfosfaat.
Gebruik tijdens zwangerschap en/ of borstvoeding: Raadpleeg eerst uw arts of apotheker wanneer u zwanger bent of borstvoeding geeft.
Mogelijke bijwerkingen: Na gebruik kunnen overgevoeligheidsreacties of bijwerkingen ontstaan, vooral na langdurig gebruik. Stop de behandeling en raadpleeg uw arts als er bijwerkingen ontstaan.
Bacteriële vaginose: Bacteriële vaginose is een verstoring van de vaginale fl ora, veroorzaakt door schadelijke bacteriën. U kunt deze aandoening herkennen aan een verandering in uw vaginale afscheiding. De afscheiding kan helder of gekleurd zijn en kan overmatig zijn. De afscheiding heeft vaak een vissige geur. Vaak hebt u last van vaginaal ongemak, zoals jeuk, irritatie, gevoeligheid, roodheid en droogheid.
Candida-infecties (schimmelinfectie): Candidiasis, candidose of candida is een schimmelinfectie die wordt veroorzaakt door gistachtige schimmels, voornamelijk Candida albicans. Een candida-infectie van de vagina wordt gekenmerkt door jeuk, een branderig gevoel, roodheid en meestal een witte, korrelige afscheiding (de ‘witte vloed’).
Werkingsmechanisme: Vagimed bevordert het herstel van het natuurlijke vaginale milieu. De capsules bevatten Lactobacillus acidophilus. Deze melkzuurbacterie produceert melkzuur en is van nature aanwezig in een gezonde vaginale microfl ora. Een combinatie van actieve componenten (melkzuur, cranberry) reguleert de pH-zuurtegraad en helpt de hechting en uitbreiding van pathogenen (ziekteverwekkers) te voorkomen.
Waarschuwingen:
• buiten het bereik en zicht van jonge kinderen houden;
• de capsule niet inslikken. Alleen bedoeld voor vaginaal gebruik;
• dit product is bedoeld voor gebruik door volwassenen. Andere
gebruikers moeten een arts raadplegen alvorens dit product te
gebruiken;
• gebruik alleen capsules die zijn verpakt in een gesloten, intacte
blisterverpakking;
• raadpleeg uw arts als u na twee weken behandelen
geen verbetering opmerkt;
• raadpleeg uw arts voor gebruik als u zwanger bent of borstvoeding geeft.
Raadpleeg uw arts of apotheker wanneer:
• u twijfelt of u dit product kunt gebruiken in combinatie met
andere medische hulpmiddelen of medicijnen bedoeld voor
vaginale toepassing;
• een bekende overgevoeligheid hebt voor één van
de ingrediënten.

Vagimed® helpt de natuurlijke vaginale fl ora te herstellen dankzij het meervoudige effect:
1. Een probioticum van melkzuurbacteriën (Lactobacillus acidophilus) draagt actief bij aan het herstellen van de vaginale microfl ora. Het zorgt ervoor dat het slijmvlies in de vagina een normale zuurtegraad behoudt en het onderdrukt schadelijke bacteriën die zich aan het slijmvlies willen binden;
2. Het bevat melkzuur als buffer om de zuurgraad van de vagina te herstellen.
Gebruiksaanwijzing: Gebruik Vagimed® gedurende 6 dagen als behandelmethode. Breng eenmaal per dag een vaginale capsule in de vagina in. Breng de capsule in voordat u gaat slapen. Was de handen met warm water en zeep en zorg dat het gebied rond

The information may have been amended according to the new research and fi ndings, particularly if you are to use a new packaging. Keep this Instruction for use for future reference, as you may need to read it again.
Vaginal complaints: Vaginal complaints are often associated with itching, irritation, redness, dryness, a burning sensation, pain during intercourse or excessive or unpleasantly smelling vaginal discharge. Most vaginal complaints are caused by a disruption in the vaginal environment.
Vaginal microfl ora: A huge number of bacteria, which we call microfl ora or the ‘vaginal environment’, live in the vagina.
The degree of acidity of the vagina is naturally low. It is an important factor in ensuring an adequate regulation of the vaginal microfl ora. The lactic acid bacteria in particular play an important role in protection. These bacteria are responsible for the acidic environment in the vagina, as a result of which the vagina is protected against the most harmful microorganisms. These micro-organisms do not thrive well in an acidic environment. A change in the degree of acidity, even if it is only temporary, will suffi ce to change the composition of the vaginal microfl ora. The vaginal environment can become disrupted, if the lactic acid bacteria are predominated by harmful bacteria or fungi and various complaints may occur as a result. A disruption in the natural balance of the vagina may lead to a vaginal infection (such as bacterial vaginosis or a fungal infection).
Bacterial vaginosis: Bacterial vaginosis is a disrupted condition of the vaginal fl ora caused by harmful bacteria.
You can recognise this condition by a change in your vaginal discharge. The discharge may be clear or coloured and may be excessive. The discharge often has a fi sh-like odour. You will often suffer from vaginal discomforts, such as itching, irritation, sensitiveness, redness and dryness.
Warnings:
• Keep out of reach and sight of young children;
• Do not ingest the capsule. Intended for vaginal use only;
• This product is intended to be used by adults. Other types of users should consult a physician prior to using this product;
• Only use capsules that are packaged in a sealed,
intact blister pocket;
• Consult your physician if no improvement is noticed after
two weeks of treatment;
• Consult your physician prior to use if you are pregnant or are
breastfeeding.
Candida-infections (fungal infection): Candidiasis, candidose or candida is a fungal infection that is caused by yeast-like fungi, mainly Candida albicans. A Candida-infection of the vagina is characterised by itching, burning sensation, redness and usually a white, crumbly discharge (the ‘white fl ow’).
Mechanism of action: Vagimed® capsules favor the restoration of natural intravaginal physiological condition.
They contain Lactobacillus acidophilus, normally present in vaginal fl ora, and a combination of active components (lactic acid, cranberry) that permit to control the pH constant levels of acidity and that help to prevent the adhesion and proliferation of pathogens.
Vagimed® helps to restore the natural vaginal fl ora due to its fold effect:

1. A probioticum of lactic acid bacteria
(Lactobacillus acidophilus) actively contributes to restoring
the vaginal microfl ora. It ensures that a normal acidity of the
mucous membrane in the vagina is maintained and it
suppresses harmful bacteria from binding themselves to
the mucous membrane;
2. It contains lactic acid as a buffer in order to restore the acidic
level in the vagina.
Directions for use: Use Vagimed® as a course of treatment for a period of 6 days. Insert one vaginal capsule into the vagina once a day. Insert the capsule before you go to sleep. It is important to wash one’s hands with warm water and soap and that the area surrounding the vagina is clean and dry before inserting the capsule. It is recommended in the case of vaginal dryness to moisturize the capsule with water before inserting it into the vagina. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Insertion of the capsule: Use your free hand to spread the labia and carefully insert the capsule into the vagina as deeply as possible.
