Hunting vs Poaching
Luckily enough for me, my dad has a friend who owns a game farm in Hluhluwe. I phoned him up earlier this
morning to talk to him about the rhino poaching issues in South Africa. This particular game farm owner, I won’t
mention his name, has 5 rhino on his farm, none of which have been poached. Two of the five rhino are babies
aged one and a half, and 2 years of age consecutively. Both of these babies are being sold in the next few
months. I asked him whether he has taken any extra precautions to stop or prevent poaching on his farm. He
has hired a few extra police guards that try to follow the rhinos during the day and then some extra guards to
watch them at night. He does not believe that the new form of poisoning the rhino horn is effective, as the rhino
still dies, due to the fact that the poachers can not tell whether the horn is poisoned or not. He also stipulated
that they will be darting and surgically removing the horns of their adult rhino to prevent poaching which will
harm their animals.
We talked about an interesting issue regarding hunting as opposed to poaching. He said that 2 to 3 years ago,
Americans were allowed to purchase hunting permits, although at a great cost. This allowed for the hunting of
animals, such as rhino, to be controlled. Now, however, because they have stopped the issuing of these
permits, there is an ever-increasing demand for rhino horn. The trade of horn, now functions on the black
market, which has fluctuated the illegal trades. We further discussed the fact that whether we like it or not,
rhinos are dying. He stated that if they brought back hunting permits maybe the demand for horn would settle,
and thus it would be controlled.
We both agree on the fact that this issue needs to be controlled urgently, if we would like to see the rhino live.
The argument here is that there is a big difference between hunters and poachers. Hunters will shoot one, and
keep the horn as a trophy, whereas poachers are killing rhino in large numbers and selling the horn on the
black market. The hype around rhino horn in asia is great, and therefore more rhinos will continually be
poached, until there are none left.
Stock Piles

“Rhino horn stockpiles in Africa at risk
of illegal trade.”
A total of almost 18 tonnes of rhino horn
have been documented in east and
southern Africa. These stockpile values
assure one that there are people catching
the poachers and confiscating their
treasurers. This stockpile values does too,
however, stand Africa at an enormous risk
of illegal trade.

body's life is the result of the balance of yin and yang. Yin is
the inner and negative principles, and yang, outer and
positive. The key reason why there is sickness is because
the two aspects lose their harmony. Seen from the recovery

harm, and yin is the inner base to store and provide energy

Rhino horn
will kill you.
Written by: Amy von
Buddenbrock of the South China
Morning Post.
Research has confirmed distressing news.
The intake of rhino horn is now classified as
dangerous. Unfortunately too much of a
good thing is bad for you. We have believed,
up until now, that rhino horn contains
aphrodisiac properties. It is believed that
rhino horn has principles of sympathetic
magic due to the phallic shape of the horn,
which ultimately enhances sexual desire and
intercourse. This may be true; however,
what has not been discovered until of late is
that the horn of a rhinoceros contains
harmful side effects. Researchers have done
numerous case studies and revealed
deplorable results. Dr. Honne Yuang of the
International Chinese hospital stated that;
“Patients who have
consumed rhino horn
have become increasingly
suicidal.” He continued to articulate
that other harmful side effects included
mental disorders, tremors, troubled stomach,
headaches, fainting and irregularities of the
heart. “Only after years of research, have I
and other doctors in my specialization
discovered just how dangerous the
medicinal use of rhino horn actually is.” I
listened to Dr. Yuang intently, as I have
been a faithful believer and users of rhino
horn. His unrelenting documents showed
truthful discoveries about how the side
effects of rhino horn works through ones
system, slowly deteriorating and
progressively attacking vital organs such as
the heart. He mentioned a side effect of
vivid nightmares, and it was then that I
regretfully realized how sleep had become
my worst enemy. Much to my dismay, I am
encouraging you, my fellow comrades of
China to stop using rhino horn. Working
alongside Dr. Yuang we have found other,
actually more effective and far cheaper ways
of curing impotence and revitalizing ones
sex life without the harmful side effects
found in rhino horn.
Speaking with another medical professional.
Yet another alarming issue that is
contributing to the dangerous status of using
rhino horn is the intentional poisoning of the
horn in Africa.
Dr.Yuan Hoo, who is dedicating his time to
the detection of poison in rhino horn, has
said that; “We are working on a technique to
early detect poison in a rhinoceros’ horn,
however the procedure is not one hundred
percent accurate yet. Africa is trying to stop
this trade and they have been poisoning
some rhino horn with the intention of killing
us, the consumers.” Hospitals across China
have reported hundreds of deaths. “No
one can be sure that after
consuming rhino horn that
they will live. The
consumption of rhino horn
is now classified as deadly, if
not fatal. I urge you to stop
now, if you wish to live!”
The government is looking further into
making rhinoceros horn trade impossible.
