Share More to Grow – Underwriting and Claims Team of Hong Kong
and Macau
It was a great experience of the underwriting and claims team of Hong Kong to meet
the Macau’s teams on 11 March 2011.
medicine, COMET training module (a comprehensive training program conducted by
GenRe yearly), internal and external training workshops to underwriters of different
levels, etc. Ultimate goal is to encourage underwriters to continuously enhance their
professional horizons and exchange more information in underwriting and claims
discipline.
Our guest speaker, Dr Joseph Lam, was the spotlight of our training on that day. He
was a specialist in Neurosurgery at Hong Kong. He had brought us a lot of
information on the micro-invasive technology in neurological and spinal surgery that
all underwriting and claims participants were all giving very positive comment on his
presentation. Can you image that you can speak and give reaction to your surgeon
when your brain is opened? We did see the patients do that in the lecture!!
The underwriting training program of 2011 had been kicked off to the HK and Macau
team on 11 March. It was an off-site underwriting training at ING Macau to the teams
of Hong Kong. It was also the first time of underwriters in Hong Kong to go to Macau
office and meet with the underwriters there. We all have great fun in the learning and
sharing.
Both teams were introduced on the program highlight of this year, including the Basic
Underwriting Training Program to operations staff, web seminar on insurance

We can say that it was a successful sharing program for underwriters and claims
colleague to build up their relationship there, to exchange skills and knowledge, and
know more on the latest technology that are affecting insurance medicine. We, for
sure, shall continue this sort of program and let the teams (both underwriting and
claims) to grow with the changing environment. We wish to build a professional
team in growing more good business for ING!!
