The standard enduro-ESA has 2, one front and one rear. – • • • This improves how precise you can control the level of compression and rebound damping for each riding mode. 2 new valves, damping pistons, has been developed for this project. We have implemented an intelligent ”Smart EC” function in the street comfort damping mode that adapts the damping level to the vehichle speed. We have chosen to exclude the EC front pre-load adjuster, that is mainly used to get more ground clearance for rough terrain riding, due to following reasons: – The manual pre-load adjuster on the front T36 is easy to access and adjust. – It saves cost plus weight and our main focus is the hydraulic properties and the electronic control system. Öhlins Racing BM 670 Smart EC function in Comfort mode When riding in COMFORT mode, the damping level changes automatically to NORMAL mode, when speed is higher than 80 km/h. When speed is higher than 120 km/h, the damping level automatically changes to SPORT mode, but without spring pre-load. When speed is decreasing, the modes switches back again. Note: By adjusting to SPORT setting with the ESA button, there are also a spring preload added. This is a unic Öhlins Racing feature not existing in the ESA system.
