The Ode:
It’s a long, lyric poem usually addressed to a particular
person ,thing, place.
It generally uses similes, metaphors and imagery
The Romantic poets like Wordsworth, Keats and Shelley
used this form of poetry.
Pablo Neruda is a famous Latin American poet wellknown for his odes.
Ode to a Fountain Pen:
“Oh beloved pen of
midnight black ink,
How I love to roll
you down my nose.”
The Ode





An ode is a poem glorifying and praising a person, place, or thing (it is
positive!.
The number of lines in every stanza is the same (you pick)
The number of words per line is the same in every stanza!
You pick the pattern, you pick the rhyme
No more than 5 words/line
You pick the pattern: Max 5
words/line











Required: 4 stanzas total…..One object/person/place……..1 simile
