Numeric expression- A mathematical sentence
without an equal sign. Made up of numbers,
grouping symbols and operations. Ex. 3 + 5
Algebra – A language of symbols.
Algebraic expression – an expression where
variables and numbers are joined by any
combination of the four basic operations (+, -, x, /).
ex. M + 5
Variable – a placeholder for any value. Any letter
(n, m, j, x) can be used to represent an unknown
quantity in an expression.
