What Do Tree Frogs Eat?
Tadpoles eat algae.
Adults eat insects, spiders, worms and
slugs.
Some of the larger species eat mice,
birds and other frogs.
What Do Tree Frogs Look Like?
Bright red eyes
Orange webbed feet
Bright yellow and blue flanks (back legs)
Neon green body
Can be used for
camouflage
The tree frog is about 1.5 to 2.75
inches (4 to 7cm.)
Where Do Tree Frogs Live
Frogs live in tropical rain forests, north
of the arctic circle and high in the
Himalayan mountains. They also live
partly on land and partly on water.
Is A Tree Frog A Herbivore
Carnivore Or Omnivore?
Tadpoles are herbivores because they eat
algae. Fully grown frogs are carnivores
because they eat other animals like insects,
spiders, worms and slugs.
What Colors Are On
A Red Eyed Tree
Frog?
The tree frog is a very colorful
amphibian. It includes red,
orange, yellow, green and blue
on its body.
What Is The Typical Weight
Of A Red Eyed Tree Frog?
A typical Tree Frog
weighs about 15 ounces
all the way up to 7 pounds.
How Does A Tree Frog Get Its
Food?
They have specially designed tongues for the
specific type of food they eat.
Unlike humans the frog’s tongue is attached at
the front of the mouth.
This helps the frogs fling their tongues out of
their mouths much easier.
The tip of the tongue is also sticky, this helps
the frog latch onto its prey and hold on to it.
How Did The Tree Frog Become
Endangered?
 In 1989, amphibians’ numbers were going down
really fast all over the world, and it wasn’t just in
areas crowded with people.
 Different species face different threats. The tree
frogs’ habitat is becoming destroyed.
 They are facing many deadly diseases.
 Pollution is also damaging things, plus too much
climate change.
What Steps
Are Being
Taken In Order
To Save The
Tree Frog
From
Becoming
Extinct?
Some of the things scientists
are doing to help them from
becoming extinct are breeding
them in zoos, and keeping the
frogs away from fish to keep
them safe.
The tree frogs’ habitat is also
being protected by weeding
their habitat, and making sure
that there are not many forest
fires.
What Adaptations Help It Survive?
Tree Frogs
 The frog’s red eyes help it
during day time because it
is a nocturnal animal, and
when a predator tries to eat
it, the tree frog’s bright eyes
immediately pop open.
 Since they are so bright,
they startle the predator
and it makes it pause for a
moment.
 That moment the frog leaps
away for safety.
Amphibians
 An amphibian.
 Delicate outer membrane
that allows it to absorb
moisture from air, and
breathe in oxygen.
 It also means they’re like a
sponge when it comes to
pollutants.
