More than 16 million kids in America struggle with hunger.
That’s almost one in five who don’t have consistent access to enough nutritious food to lead
healthy, active lives. They live in food- insecure households and as a result, they struggle
with hunger.
Despite its devastating and highly visible consequences, childhood hunger is invisible. You
can’t see it just by looking, and you can’t measure it in pounds, but it is among us: it affects
black, white, Asian and Hispanic, short and tall, thin and chubby.
Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation® is the nation’s premier culinary benefit dedicated
to making sure no kid in America grows up hungry. Taste of the Nation DC directly benefits
three local organizations : Capital Area Food Bank, DC Hunger Solutions and Mary’s Center.

Taste of the Nation Washington is the area’s hottest
and most trend-forward food and beverage event,
geared toward culinary enthusiasts and entry-level
foodies alike. Presented by our distinguished Chef
Council and a bright and dynamic group of young
leaders from all area of Washington’s business,
industry, and government, the event is geared toward
the city’s trend-setters and tastemakers, and will draw
an audience of nearly 1,600 cosmopolitan and
culturally-engaged young professionals.
Set in the National Building Museum, Taste of the
Nation will once again feature the largest gathering of
award winning chefs from the city of Washington, as
well as the city’s most celebrated mixologists from our
groundbreaking craft cocktail scene, in addition to fine
wines, local craft beers, and premium spirits. Guests
will also enjoy a cook-off and silent auction.
