How it all began…
It all started with a visit to the Aruban Youth Parliament a
few years ago. What a fun afternoon did we have!! The
young Arubans were not only intelligent and bright, but
also very enthusiastic and passionate when debating. The
idea to organize this on a Kingdom level was born, but we
had to wait for the right occasion…
Celebrating the 200th birthday of the Kingdom of the
Netherlands and remembering the ongoing development
of citizen rights in our diverse Kingdom made the idea into
a reality. But this reality was impossible to achieve without
the 50 young people that form the Kingdom Youth
Parliament and the small group of people that worked so
hard to organize it all.
And because KYP is a bilingual parliament, I will finish this
in Dutch. Al deze mensen presenteren zich in dit ‘smoelenboek’. Handig voor de debatweek op Sint Maarten en
hopelijk ook leuk voor later als de jeugd van nu iets minder
jeugdig is, maar het Koninkrijk mede dankzij ons aller inzet
hopelijk nog steeds 200 jaar mee kan!

Trumane Trotman – KYP President
Nickname: Tru
Age: 23
Born in Sint Maarten
Residence: Cranston, Rhode Island, U.S.A.
Study: BS Advertising & Marketing Communication,
concentrations in Psychology & International Business.
Trumane is proud of Sint Maarten because the island is
creating a platform for open discussion on finding
solutions to rebuild, rebrand and revolutionize.
Her motto is similar to the one of the Rotary Club, who
lives by the motto ‘Service Above Self’. “Adopting that
motto has made me a better humanitarian for me and for
those around me.”
For Trumane the most important topic to discuss at the
KYP is education, as it plays a vital role in the rebuilding,
rebranding and revolutionizing of St. Maarten and the
Kingdom.

Ember Samuel
Nickname: Emby
Age: 16
Born in Sint Maarten
Residence: Sint Maarten
Study: VWO, sector Nature and Technology
Ember is looking forward to meet people from Bonaire
in particular, because she has never been there and so she
would like to learn about their culture and how they live
etc.
Her motto is ‘Who I am to be I am now becoming’ and ‘if
it is up to be, it is up to me!’
What others really need to know about Ember, is that
she is an outgoing and down –to-earth person, that likes
to have fun and who is always open to learning and open
to new things.

Dwayne Griffith
Age: 17
Born on the island of Antigua, raised on Sint Maarten.
Residence: Sint Maarten
Study: TKL diploma for economics, currently in HAVO;
Economy and Society. When ready Dwayne would like to
study Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management.
For Dwayne the most important topics to discuss at the
KYP is the proposed Bosman law.
What others really need to know about Dwayne is that
he is an outspoken, friendly, honest and enthusiastic
person. He would like to be involved in activities that
benefits his island. ‘I learn from yesterday, live for today,
hope for tomorrow”.
His dream is to see the Kingdom prosper another 200
years with himself as one of the leaders.

Daniella Maccow

Age: 18

Residence: Sint Maarten, “or better known as the Friendly
Island”.
Study: Havo 4
Daniella’s motto is ‘I can do all things through Christ that
strengthens me’ – “As I am on the road to success that’s
the motto that keeps me going to fulfill my dreams.”
For Daniella the most important topics to discuss at the
KYP is education, because it is the key to success. To get a
job you need to have a diploma. “Even to clean the
government streets you need to have a diploma.”
Her dream is to become an international lawyer and also a
professional hairdresser.

Murielle Jean-Michel
Age: 19
Born and raised on Sint Maarten
Residence: Sint Maarten
Study: HAVO
Murielle’s motto is the 5 P’s: Proper Preparation Prevents
Poor Performance.
What others really need to know about Murielle is that
she is hardworking, determined, considerate, cheerful,
persistent and very outgoing. She speaks four languages.
She is always part of different organizations which
promote the positive actions of the youth.
Her dream is to actually make a difference with the
knowledge I will obtain.

Mhakeda is proud of Sint Maarten because of the work
to accomplish the country status.
She is especially looking forward to the KYP because it is
giving her the opportunity to make her country proud.
Mhakeda is looking forward to meet people from
Holland, because it gives her a change to get to know
people from her mother country and learn how they
handle matters pertaining to their country.

Netherlands and on Sint Maarten
Residence: Sint Maarten
Study: Highschool
Her motto is ‘You can do anything you put your mind to;
no dream is too small and no goal is impossible.’
For Hailey the most important topic to discuss at the
KYP is education , and “what happens to us after we finish
our secondary education to move onto our tertiary
studies”.
Her dream is to be a lawyer someday, she loves helping
people and the thought of defending them in court is
exciting to her.

Shanna Vasilda
Leeftijd: 15
Geboren in Suriname en heeft ook gewoond op Saba en
Sint Maarten.
Woonplaats: Sint Maarten
Studie: 4e klas, CXC
Shanna is trots op Sint Maarten omdat het eiland thuis is
voor de eerste KYP bijeenkomst! “Wie zou niet trots zijn
op iets dat geschiedenis schrijft?”
Het belangrijkste onderwerp om tijdens het KYP te
bespreken is voor Shanna onderwijs. De enige manier om
na de studie terug te kunnen komen naar het Koninkrijk is
wanneer hier goed onderwijs ter beschikking komt.
Shanna kijkt er vooral naar uit om jongeren te ontmoeten uit Nederland, omdat ze graag wil weten hoe het leven
daar is en hoeveel het verschilt van haar leven op Sint
Maarten. “Ik wil in de toekomst in Nederland gaan
studeren.”

Antoinette Joseph-Philips
Nickname: Twana
Age: 20
Born and raised on Sint Maarten
Residence: Sint Maarten
Study: Done!
Antoinette is especially looking forward to the KYP
because “it is a celebration!”. She is honored to be
celebrating the Kingdom’s 200 years and looking forward
to productive debating and socializing.
For Antoinette the most important topic to discuss at
the KYP is the language of the Kingdom.
What others really need to know about her is that
Antoinette is a young model in the making, she loves
sports such as tennis, volleyball, swimming and she
volunteers with children in her free time.

Franklyn Richards – coach
Franklyn Richards obtained his MULO diploma at the John
Philips School in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten. He obtained
his degree in Government Finances at the Academy of
Executive Affairs in Tilburg, his bachelor degree in
economics at the Academy of Economics (HEAO) in The
Hague, and his law degree at the Erasmus University in
Rotterdam.
From 1972 through 1979, Franklyn served as head of the
Finance Department of the Island Territory of Sint
Maarten. He accepted a post with the Ministry of Interior
Affairs in the Netherlands in 1980 were he functioned until
October 1992. In 1992, he returned to Sint Maarten as an
Administrative Lawyer in service of the Executive Council.
In 1996, he assumed the duties of Sector Director of
Support Services of the Island Government of Sint
Maarten. On September 22, 2000, he was appointed as
Lieutenant-Governor of Sint Maarten, which position he
held until Sint Maarten became a country within the
Kingdom on 10-10-2010.
Now he works as an advisor on several projects and for a
number of organizations. He is amongst other things a
member of the Council for Law Enforcement of Sint
Maarten.

Marifer Aguirre Broca – Ambassador
Age: 20
Born in Tabaso, Mexico. When Marifer was 2 she and her
family moved to the beautiful island of Aruba, where she
grew up. When she turned 18, she moved to the
Netherlands.
Residence: The Hague (Delft from this summer)
Study: International Studies at Leiden University
Marifer is proud of Aruba because of its acceptance of
multiculturalism, for its beautiful and friendly people and
for its determination of a sustainable future.
Her motto is ‘adults have the experience and the youth
has the will’ and also ‘respect to be respected’.
For Marifer the most important topic to discuss at the
KYP is the fact that Dutch should be spoken buy all
holders of Dutch passports.

Jochem Pennekamp

Geboren in Duiven en op meerdere plekken in Nederland
gewoond. Woont sinds 2012 op Aruba.
Woonplaats: Woont sinds 2012 op Aruba
Studie: Tweedejaarsstudent aan de Universiteit van Aruba,
studie ‘Organization, Governance and Management’
Jochem heeft vooral zin in het KYP omdat het belangrijk
is om te debatteren over de inhoud en verbondenheid
binnen het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden
Zijn motto is “hard werken verslaat talent, als talent niet
hard werkt”.
Jochem kijkt er vooral naar uit om jongeren te ontmoeten uit Bonaire, Saba en Sint Eustatius, omdat zij vanaf 10
oktober 2010 geïntegreerd zijn in het Nederlandse
staatsbestel. Hoe gaan zij om met de directe invloed van
de Nederlandse overheid?

KYP is the future of the kingdom.

Geboren in Oss, Nederland
Woonplaats: Aruba
Studie: Rechten
Quirinuis is trots op Aruba omdat Aruba op de kaart
nauwelijks groter is dan de punt aan het einde van deze
zin. “Toch is ons land nu een top bestemming voor
toeristen. Rijk aan vele culturen!”
Zijn motto is ‘Doe wat je NU kan, omdat het kan. Anders
krijgt je morgen de kans niet!’
Quirinuis heeft vooral zin in het KYP omdat de jongeren
uit het Koninkrijk niet zo vaak samenkomen. Dit is een
kans om met jongeren uit het koninkrijk te praten over de
onderwerpen die er toe doen.

Jeremy Lanooij

Geboren en getogen op Aruba en twee jaar in Nederland
gewoond
Woonplaats: Aruba
Studie: PABO
Jeremy is trots op Aruba omdat Aruba op alle gebieden
zo vooruit is gegaan sinds de status aparte. De mensen op
het eiland staan altijd klaar om elkaar te helpen.
Jeremy kijkt er vooral naar uit iemand te ontmoeten uit
Sint Maarten omdat hij niemand kent uit Sint Maarten en
er ook nog nooit is geweest.
Wat anderen echt van Jeremy moeten weten is dat hij
heel muzikaal is omdat hij uit een ontzettend muzikale
familie komt. Hij speelt graag piano en houdt veel van
muziek.

Ann-Jillians motto is ‘Live – learn – grow’.
What others really need to know about Ann-Jillian is
that she is studying to become a teacher and her hobby is
singing.
Her dream is to inspire her students to be the best that
they can be.

Aditya is especially looking forward to KYP because he is
very excited to meet young individuals from around the
kingdom and discuss pertinent issues with them.
His motto is ‘be the change you want to see in the world’
For Aditya the most important topics to discuss at the
KYP are kingdom relations “Especially how the different
partners in the Kingdom view each other” and how the
countries within the kingdom can work together to
become environmentally sustainable.

Kawish Misier
Age: 23
Born in Rotterdam, lived on Bonaire as well.
Residence: Aruba
Study: HBO – Accounting and Finance
Kawish is proud of Aruba because “even though we are a
small island, we have a big vision. We are already a world
leader when it comes to renewable energy.”
He is especially looking forward to the KYP because he
loves to work together with others and would like to meet
new people from all parts of the Kingdom.
What others really need to know about Kawish is that he
already graduated in marketing. He is a young entrepreneur full of wild, new, innovative ideas.

Study: Organization, Governance and Management.
Nurianne is proud of Aruba because Aruba is like the
‘deep ocean’, on the surface you only see water of
different blues but underneath you encounter many
wonders.
She is especially looking forward to the KYP because
“KYP = opportunities. Let us celebrate the Kingdom,
embrace diversity and develop together.”
Her motto is ‘Where there is a will, there is a way…’

Michelle Hooyboer-Winklaar - coach
Michelle Hooyboer-Winklaar studied marketing and
psychology in Ontario, Canada (both in Kingston and
Toronto). She then started a career in the private sector.
From April 1997 till September 2003 she worked in several
senior management positions at Bell Canada and AT&T
Canada.
In September 2003 she returned to Oranjestad, but she
kept working in the private sector. She became Head of
Marketing at Digicel Aruba. Within two years she was
promoted to the position of CEO. In November 2009 she
switched over to the public sector and became Minister for
Economic Affairs, Social Affairs and Culture in the cabinet
of Mike Eman.
As a minister she not only strives towards a sustainable
economic development for Aruba, but she gives priority
and extra attention to those weakest in Aruban society,
which often are the children.

Carl Fielmich - ambassador
Nickname: Carlos
Age: 22
Born in Amsterdam and has lived on Curaçao, Aruba and
Bonaire.
Residence: Nijmegen, Nederland
Study: Law
Carl is proud of Bonaire because the people on the island
guided him to be the person that he is today.
For Carl the most important topics to discuss at the KYP
are kingdom relationships and of course the education
system.
His dream is to help and fight for human rights.

Leeftijd: 17
Geboren in Nederland en daar gewoond tot haar
veertiende.
Woonplaats: Woont sinds drie jaar op het mooie eiland
Bonaire.
Studie: VWO
Cassidy heeft vooral zin in het KYP omdat ze verschillende jongeren gaat ontmoeten. “Hier kijk ik echt naar
uit!”
Haar droom is dat iedereen op een gezonde manier
opgroeit en in een veilige omgeving met veel
mogelijkheden.
Wat anderen echt over Cassidy moeten weten is dat ze
erg sociaal is en van dansen houdt.

Born on Sint Martin and raised on Sint Maarten
Residence: St. Eustatius
Study: Economy
For Raymi the most important topic to discuss at the
KYP is “how we can we improve our Kingdoms social and
financial problems?”.
His motto is ‘to every action there is an opposite
reaction!’.
Raymi’s dream is to become owner of a cruise line, one
that sails trough the vast Ocean of Caribbean.

Shaquana Parris
Nickname: Sjakie
Age: 16
Born in George Town – Guyana. Shaquana lived her for
four years and then moved to Statia.
Residence: Sint Eustatius
Study: HAVO 4, Natuur & Gezondheid
Shaquana is proud of Sint Eustatius because it’s small
but filled of culture and life. It is a very safe, peaceful and
nice place to live.
Her motto is “I am a N.E.R.D., a person who Never Ever
Ridicules Dreams!”
Shaquana’s dream is to become a forensic psychiatrist
and open a children’s hospital.

Study: Dutch Law
Nataly is proud of Saba because it’s normal to greet
everyone and when people ask you how you are doing,
they really mean it. “I’m really proud of Saba for that”.
Her motto is ‘Be the change you want to see’ – Mahatma
Ghandi
Nataly’s dream is “to give to the generation(s) after me,
that which has been instilled in me”.

Elsa is proud of Saba because Sabans are determined and
strong-willed people, “I wouldn’t want to be from
anywhere else in the world”.
Her motto is ‘I like to see a man proud of the place in
which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will
be proud of him’
Elsa is not especially looking forward to meet somebody, but she is looking forward to meet everyone. “As
together we can all share a different prospective from
different islands or countries in the Kingdom”.

Born on Curaçao and lived here for ten years
Residence: Sint Eustatius
Study: HAVO 4, Natuur & Gezondheid
Czaigany is proud of Sint Eustatius because it is considered one of the safest places to live.
She is looking forward to meet someone from Curaçao
in particular, “because at least I have an inzicht of what it
will be like when I return home to further my studies”.
What other people really need to know about Czaigany
is that she skipped a grade and that she was a valedictorian when she graduated from elementary school.

Yavis is proud of Bonaire because he loves water sports
and activities, and Bonaire is filled with them.
He is especially looking forward to the KYP because he
wants to meet new people, explore new places and
become smarter at the same time.
What other people really need to know about Yavis is
that he is a very active and social person, he loves to sport,
likes to make new friends and “I’m always up for an
adventure!”.

Yavis is proud of Bonaire because even though it is less
developed then some other islands, it recently has set its
course on becoming a high level society.
What other people really need to know about Yavis is he
likes to dance. “But I’m a horrible dancer.”
His dream is to meet people. See their lives in function
with others around them. And witness this large machine
like society spin its gears in harmony.

Julia Martinus

Age: 16
Born on Curaçao, but raised on Bonaire
Residence: Bonaire
Study: VWO 4, Natuur & Gezondheid
Julia’s motto is ‘some things fall apart, so better things can
fall together’.
For Julia, one of the most important topics to discuss at
the KYP is the lack of attention and ‘care’ the islands are
getting from mainland The Netherlands.
Her dream is to get her PhD in Marine Science and become
a noted scientist and inspire youth with the same
interests.

Nora Sneek-Gibbs - coach
Nora Sneek-Gibbs is truly a Kingdom citizen : she was born
on Statia, but lived, studied (HRM) and worked both in
Aruba, the Netherlands (and Belgium) and on Curaçao,
where she served from 1994 till 1997 as a junior minister
(staatssecretaris) in the government of the Netherlands
Antilles (in the cabinet Pourier). Before that worked as a
commissioner (gedeputeerde) on Statia from 1991 till 1994
and after her active political career she helped Statia as a
civil servant on the route to ’10-10-10’. She also worked and still works for a number of organizations in civil society, such als the Oranje Comité, YMCA,
Lions and Quota. She has worked on several interesting
projects, most recently on teaching adults and children on
Statia Having been very active for many years in both the
public and the private sector, Nora Sneek knows all Dutch
Caribbean islands well. The team from Bonaire, Statia and
Saba will surely be able to profit from her rich experience.

Kennedy Ogenio
Age: 23
Born and raised on “my beautiful island of Curaçao”
Residence: Rotterdam, Kennedy moved to The
Netherlands at age of 18 to start with his career.
Study: Medicine
Kennedy is proud of Curaçao; “it’s just an honor the be
‘yu di Korsou’.” Kennedy is proud of their language, their
unique way of thinking and their ‘Krioyo’ meals.
He is especially looking forward to the KYP because
Kennedy is very aware that unification of individuals can
do many things. So he is very excited to see the result of
50 young adults from all over the Kingdom get united.
What others really need to about Kennedy is that he is
very kind and loves to make others smile.

Geboren en getogen in Curaçao
Woonplaats: Curaçao
Studie: VWO 5
Gasvely is trots op haar eiland omdat het multicultureel
is. Hierdoor heeft ze een heleboel geleerd van andere
godsdiensten, taal en cultuur.
Ze heeft vooral zin in het KYP omdat ze rechten wil gaan
studeren en ze zich aangetrokken voelt door politiek. Ze
wil er meer over weten en haar debating skills vergroten.
Gasevely kijkt er vooral naar uit om jongeren te
ontmoeten uit Nederland, want ze gaat daar studeren en
wil heel graag hun ervaringen over universiteiten en de
steden horen.

Chiara Hoijer
Age: 16
Born in Curaçao and Chiara has lived in the Netherlands,
Aruba and Bonaire when she was little.
Residence: Curaçao
Study: VWO 4, Economie en Maatschappij
Chiara is especially looking forward to the KYP because
of the opportunity the other 49 members and her are
given to come together to debate and come with solutions
for change.
Her motto is ‘If you are going to live, do not starve
yourself for others’.
For Chiara the most important topic to discuss at the
KYP is education: “It leads to independency in every
community.”

Warren Lasten
Age: 18
Born on “the beautiful island of Curaçao”. When Warren
was five years old he moved to Holland with his family and
they came back in 2007.
Residence: Curaçao
Study: VWO 5
Warren is proud of his island because even though
Curaçao is a very small country, the people come from
different races and cultures, and yet they live in peace and
harmony.
His motto is ‘Be there for others wherever and whenever
you can, because happiness will never be found, it can only
be created.’
For Warren the most important topic to discuss at the
KYP is how to use our statutory ties to improve each
country to the fullest. We can all benefit from each others
experiences and knowledge. In this way we will be working
together, creating a brighter future.

Jerôme Profar
Leeftijd: 18
Geboren en getogen op Curaçao
Woonplaats: Curaçao
Studie: VWO
Jerôme is trots op Curaçao omdat zijn eiland een
belangrijke rol in koninkrijksrelaties had en veel te bieden
heeft zoals bezienswaardigheden, natuurgebieden en
shopping.
Jerôme heeft vooral zin in het KYP omdat hij graag
debatteert en jongeren een kans krijgen om hun standpunt op complexe zaken te geven.
Zijn droom is “dat wij, de 50 jongeren, een bijdrage zullen
leveren aan het oplossen van de zwakke aspecten van ons
koninkrijk”

Geboren in Tilburg en op haar tweede naar Curaçao
verhuisd
Woonplaats: Curaçao
Studie: Rechtsgeleerdheid aan de University of Curaçao
Nihal is trots op Curaçao omdat het een multicultureel
eiland is. “Dit brengt met zich mee dat wij Curaçaoënaars,
ons in tenminste 4 talen kunnen uiten en dat is uniek!”
Haar motto is ‘Er kan niet meer kracht bestaan dan door
eenheid’.
Nihals droom is “dat we in het kader van 200 jaar
koninkrijk na 24 mei 2014 kunnen terugkijken op een zeer
succesvol evenement van het KYP.”

Karen Dilrosun
Leeftijd: 18
Geboren in Colombia en op negenjarige leeftijd naar
Nederland verhuisd. Ze heeft daar drie jaar gewoond en is
toen met haar familie naar Curaçao gekomen.
Woonplaats: Curaçao
Studie: VWO 5
Karen heeft vooral zin in het KYP omdat ze “vast en
zeker” veel dingen zal leren. Ze is vereerd deel uit te
mogen maken van zo’n geweldige kans.
Ze vindt de samenwerking binnen het koninkrijk het
belangrijkste onderwerp om tijdens het KYP te bespreken. “Dit zullen we alleen met respect en communicatie
bereiken en het KYP is de perfecte gelegenheid om dit te
stimuleren”.
Haar droom is om rechter te worden. Ik wil voor mensen
opkomen als advocaat en later als rechter zorgen voor
rechtvaardigheid binnen onze maatschappij.

Geboren en getogen op Curaçao
Woonplaats: Curaçao
Studie: VWO 5
Lara vindt onderwijs het belangrijkste onderwerp om
tijdens het KYP te bespreken. “Momenteel zijn er een
hoop regels aan het veranderen binnen het onderwijs.
Hierdoor is er voor studenten erg veel om rekening mee te
houden”.
Lara kijkt er vooral naar uit om jongeren te ontmoeten
uit Nederland, om een idee te krijgen hoe het leven van
een Nederlandse student er uit ziet. “Ik wil na mijn VWO in
Nederland studeren.”
Haar droom is kinderdokter te worden. “Ik heb een
enorme liefde voor kinderen en als dokter kan ik van grote
betekenis zijn voor de maatschappij”.

Marko Winedt
Age: 16
Born in Amsterdam, but raised in Curaçao.
Residence: Curaçao
Study: VWO, next year he starts with the IB-program
Marko is especially looking forward to the KYP because
it’s an amazing opportunity and experience to learn more
about the Kingdom and get to know other motivated
young individuals.
His motto is ‘always set high goals and try to be the best
at what you do’.
Marko’s dream is to learn and experience as much as I can
about and from the world around me, and use this to be a
real difference in the world.

Tahir Willemsberg
Age: 16
Born and raised in Curaçao.
Residence: Willemstad, Curaçao
Study: HAVO
Tahir is proud of Curaçao, because it is beautiful to see
how my island is becoming more and more independent.
His motto is ‘You Only Life Once’. “So make the best of
each opportunity you have in life”.
What other really need to know about him is that Tahir is
a really social person, he love to make new friends and he
also loves singing.

Suzy Römer - coach
Van 1992 tot 2002 bekleedde Suzy Römer meerdere zware
posities in de regering van de Nederlandse Antillen. Ze was
Minister-president, Minister van Justitie en Minister van
Economische Zaken. Ook was ze vele jaren volksvertegenwoordiger, zowel in de Staten van de Nederlandse Antillen
als in de eilandsraad van Curaçao.
Suzy studeerde aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen af in
zowel burgerlijk recht, strafrecht en strafprocesrecht. Ze
heeft ruime nationale en internationale ervaring als jurist
en advocaat, strateeg en leidinggevende in de publieke en
private sector.
Suzy was als adviseur betrokken bij het proces van
staatkundige herstructurering dat uitmondde in
´10/10/10´. Sindsdien is ze onder meer lid van het
Constitutionele Hof van Sint Maarten. Ze is ook lid van de
internationale Raad van vrouwelijke wereldleiders en heeft
een lange reeks publicaties op haar naam.

Aster van Tilburg – ambassadeur
Leeftijd: 24
Geboren en getogen in Nederland
Woonplaats: Utrecht
Studie: Afgestudeerd in Bestuurs- en
Organisatiewetenschappen en Aster werkt nu bij Voor je
Buurt, een crowdfundingplatform voor lokale initiatieven.
Ze heeft vooral zin in het KYP omdat ontzettend graag de
jongeren van de andere eilanden wil leren kennen. Wie zijn
ze, wat drijft hen en welke creatieve ideeën hebben ze?
Haar motto is ‘wees nieuwsgierig, gepassioneerd en
avontuurlijk’.
Aster vindt het belangrijkste onderwerp om tijdens het
KYP te bespreken hoe de planning in de slotverklaring
ook echt gerealiseerd gaan worden als iedereen weer thuis
is.

Ilze Busscher
Leeftijd: 16
Geboren en getogen in Nederland
Woonplaats: Meppel
Studie: Havo
Ilze heeft vooral zin in het KYP omdat ze jongeren van
andere eilanden leert kennen en hoort wat zij van de
andere eilanden vinden en wat ze belangrijk vinden voor
het Koninkrijk.
Haar motto is maak plezier en geniet van de kleine dingen
in het leven. Daardoor word je gelukkig en dat is erg
belangrijk!
Ilze vindt vrije vestiging in het koninkrijk één van de
belangrijkste onderwerpen om te bespreken tijdens het
KYP omdat het één koninkrijk is en dat te zien moet zijn.

Mahamed Xasan
Nickname: Mo
Age: 23
Born in Somalia and lived in the Netherlands, as well as
Curacao for a period.
Residence: Leiden
Study: Bachelor Public Administration at Leiden University
Mahamed is proud of the Netherlands and particular our
kingdom because we live so far from each other but have
so much in common at the same time.
Mahamed is especially looking forward to the KYP
because he thinks it is time to discuss the challenges we
are facing in our Kingdom with the new generation. ‘It’s a
honor to be present in Sint Martin’.
He is not looking forward to meet a particular countries
delegation, but Mahamed is looking forward to meet
everybody. He thinks it’s a unique chance to speak and
discuss with delegates from all the islands at the same
time.

Marolijn van Raaij
Leeftijd: 16
Geboren in Utrecht en heeft daar negen jaar gewoond.
Daarna is ze verhuisd naar een klein dorpje in Friesland.
Woonplaats: Sûwald
Studie: VWO
Marjolijn is trots op Nederland omdat Nederland gericht
is op vernieuwing en samenwerking. Het KYP is daar
natuurlijk een perfect voorbeeld van!
Marjolijn heeft vooral zin in het KYP omdat op zo’n
manier samenkomen met leeftijdsgenoten niet vaak
voorkomt. “Ik vind het heel bijzonder dat ik er deel van uit
mag maken!”
Haar motto is ‘nooit geschoten is altijd mis!’ “Liever iets
proberen en beschamend hard falen dan me nog jaren
afvragen of ik het misschien had gekund.”

Danielle Jongeneel

Woonplaats: Scherpenzeel
Studie: Lerares basisonderwijs
Danielle vindt onderwijs het belangrijkste onderwerp
om te bespreken. “Uiteraard! Ik vind het belangrijk dat
kinderen in ons Koninkrijk allemaal dezelfde rechten
hebben en onderwijs is hier de ultieme manier voor”.
Ze kijkt er vooral naar uit iemand te ontmoeten uit
Curaçao omdat ze volgend jaar graag haar afstudeerstage /
onderzoek wil doen op dit eiland. Ze hoopt een paar
jongeren te ontmoeten zodat ze zich een goed beeld kan
vormen van het eiland.
Haar motto is ‘If you think you are too small to make a
difference, try sleeping with a mosquito in the same
room!’

Jibbe is proud of the Netherlands because the country
provides all basic rights for almost every citizen. Good
education, health services and freedom are rights we can
enjoy.

koninkrijk de blik op een gedeelde toekomst kunnen

Sophie Heering
Leeftijd: 18
Geboren in Amstelveen en Sophie heeft van haar eerste
tot haar vijfde op Curaçao gewoond.
Woonplaats: ’s-Hertogenbosch
Studie: Gymnasium 5
Sophie heeft vooral zin in het KYP omdat ze er naar uitkijkt
de culturen van alle eilanden te leren kennen.
Haar motto is ‘be who you are and say what you feel,
because the people who mind don’t matter and the people
who matter don’t mind.
De belangrijkste onderwerpen om tijdens het KYP te
bespreken zijn voor Sophie de sociaal culturele aspecten,
zoals abortus, euthanasie en het homohuwelijk.
Wat anderen echt over Sophie moeten weten is dat ze
over de hele wereld heeft gewoond. Ze is in Nederland
geboren, heeft vier jaar op Curaçao gewoond vijf jaar in
Amerika, zeven jaar in Nederland en een high school jaar in
Washington!

Bijnaam: Gap
Leeftijd: 18
Geboren in Amsterdam
Woonplaats: Utrecht
Javier is trots op Nederland omdat we een klein land zijn
dat groot geworden is in de wereld.
Zijn motto is ‘neem uw werk serieus, maar neem uzelf
met een korreltje zout’.
Javiers droom is wereldkampioen worden in het
Nederlands elftal. “Helaas had ik eerder moeten werken
aan deze droom.”

Marijke Linthorst - coach
Marijke Linthorst is de coach van het Europees
Nederlandse team. Ze studeerde politicologie aan de
Universiteit van Amsterdam, nadat ze in diezelfde stad het
gymnasium had gedaan. Ze werkte in een groot aantal
verschillende functies in publieke dienst, waardoor ze een
rijke ervaring op het gebied van cultuur, onderwijs en
sociale zaken heeft.
Marijke was ook gemeenteraadslid in Abcoude en heeft
inmiddels bijna 15 jaar ervaring als volksvertegenwoordiger. In de Eerste Kamer is ze niet alleen Eerste
Ondervoorzitter, maar ook voorzitter van de Commissie
voor Koninkrijksrelaties.

Geboren in Den Haag en gewoond in Curaçao, Frankrijk en

Zijn motto is ‘wees streng voor jezelf en mild voor
anderen’.
Voor Ron is het belangrijkste onderwerp om tijdens het
KYP te bespreken hoe we ervoor kunnen zorgen dat
jongeren meer over het Koninkrijk leren in het onderwijs.
“En dat we beseffen hoe bijzonder het Koninkrijk is!”
Zijn droom is elke drie jaar een Koninkrijksjeugdparlement
te kunnen organiseren. “Met net zo veel enthousiasme als
deze keer!”

Tanja Fraai
Age: 42
Born and raised in Holland. Her father is from Curaçao and
she often visits Curaçao for family and work.
Residence: Amsterdam
Study: Tanja studied Spanish Language & Literature and
Cultural Studies in Amsterdam, and now has a media
company.
Tanja is proud of Curaçao, because despite of being a
small island, people are ambitious and tend to look after
each other very well.
She is especially looking forward to the KYP because
“we have been preparing KYP for several months. I am
very excited to see how everyone comes together, what
the energy will be”.
What others really need to know about Tanja is that she
is on Sint Maarten to help out with the press. “Being a
journalist I want to assist the KYP members how to
address the press.”

Wendele van der Wiele
Leeftijd: 28
Geboren in en getogen in Soest en gewoond op Curaçao
en Bonaire voor studie en werk.
Woonplaats: Den Haag
Studie: Culturele Antropologie als bachelor in Leiden en
master Latijns Amerika Studies aan het CEDLA in
Amsterdam. Ze werkt voor het ministerie van
Binnenlandse Zaken en Koninkrijksrelaties.
Wendele heeft vooral zin in het KYP omdat ze dan
eindelijk al die jongeren in het echt kan ontmoeten. “Op
de selectiefilmpjes, tijdens trainingen en zelfs in e-mails
was er al zo veel energie, dat er geen andere mogelijkheid
is dan dat het KYP een fantastisch evenement wordt!”.
Ze ziet in het bijzonder naar uit om de jongeren te
ontmoeten uit Aruba, dat is het enige eiland waar ze nog
nooit is geweest en ze is benieuwd naar de verhalen.
Wat anderen echt over Wendele moeten weten is dat de
deelnemers aan het KYP tijdens het verblijf met al hun
vragen bij haar terecht kunnen – in English i na

Roderik van Grieken
Age: 42
Born and raised in Holland, apart from 2 years when he
went to school in Scotland.
Residence: Hilversum
Study: Now working as director at Het Nederlands Debat
Instituut.
Roderik is proud of his country because it is one of the
most democratic, non-corrupt and free societies in the
world where people are, in general, relatively happy and
healthy.
He is especially looking forward to the KYP because “it
will bring together 50 smart and enthusiastic students with
different backgrounds trying to get most out of this unique
event!”
Roderik’s motto is ‘focus on your qualities instead of
worrying too much about all the things you are not so
good at!’.

Else van Nieuwkerk
Age: 28
Born and raised in Alkmaar - “a Dutch city famous for its
cheese”.
Residence: Amsterdam
Study: Else finished her master’s degree in Philosophy and
is now working as a trainer and moderator at Het
Nederlands Debat Instituut.
She is especially looking forward to the KYP because she
would like to have a better understanding of our kingdom.
“Curiosity keeps leading me down new paths! That.. and
the tropical island cocktails ;-)”
Her motto is ‘the man who moves a mountain begins by
carrying away small stones’ – Confucius
For Else there is not ‘one most important’ thing to
discuss at the KYP. ‘The KYP is an incredible opportunity
to expand our knowledge, gain wisdom and gather ideals.
However, most importantly, let us find a way to put these
mindblowing new ideas into practice’.
