INSTITUTE OF PHILOLOGY AND INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION The historical roots of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication (IPIC) go back to 1804, when the department of philology was founded in Kazan Imperial University Today IPIC is one of the largest academic units of Kazan Federal University with about 400 members of academic and administrative staff, including 64 specialists with Doctorate Degree and 215 – with Candidate Degree, 7 lecturers from Spain, Germany, the USA and Poland About 3 thousand students, more than 100 post-graduates and 11 doctoral students get education on 11 specialties Every year about 40 Candidate and Doctoral dissertations are successfully defended by candidates There are 3 divisions: • Division of Russian and Foreign Philology named after L.N.
