Risks and Their Mitigation
The biggest risk of instituting a new governance model is the
Wood Media's inability to accept the change across all
geography. This may occurs as the organization is not
trained for the new governance system, or the system is
not rolled out systematically.
Language preferences could be another risk. Since Wood
Media is working in 34 countries in decentralized way, the
workforce in many countries may not be proficient in
English.
Process standardizing across 34 countries and 84
warehouses may strangulate innovation. People will focus
more on learning the new technology and be dependent
on it to get work done. Individuals managers and
supervisors or even warehouses may not be able to apply
creative techniques to get work done.
Risks and Their Mitigation
• Proper language and technology training would definitely
help mitigating the fear among people
• Two ways effective communication between the
management and the employees in all countries will boost
confidence of people to adopt new technology
• Geography-wise rollout of the governance plan can reduce
the risk significantly. 34 countries can be divided into 4
regions based on cultural similarities and the plan can be
rolled out into four phases. Wood Media Management and
IT outsourcing vendor will get breathing time to implement
shortcomings in existing plans.
• Wood Media can choose 4 IT vendors to implement IT
governance plan, one vendor for each region.
