The VDV has existed in its present form since the beginning of 1991. The
history of the VDV began in 1846
As a sector association the VDV represents the interests of about
600 member companies active in the fields of
public passenger transport and rail freight transport.
Main performance of the VDV for its members:
Development of technical solutions, uniform rules and recommendations,
in cooperation with the transport industry and transport science
Advising and supporting parliaments, governments and other bodies at the
European, Federal, State and municipal levels
Exchange and cooperation between the members
