Gratis wifi op het Vrijthof
In samenwerking met Maastricht UMC+ en Vodafone biedt de gemeente Maastricht jou een jaar lang
gratis WiFi aan op een van de mooiste pleinen van de wereld: het Vrijthof.
De gemeente Maastricht en haar partners (verder: de gemeente Maastricht) willen daarmee:
- jouw verblijf op het plein nog aangenamer maken;
- gastvrijheid uitstralen naar alle bezoekers en inwoners: wees welkom in Maastricht;
- het plein altijd digitaal bereikbaar laten zijn en zo de veiligheid vergroten tijdens grootschalige
evenementen zoals Andre Rieu, Preuvenemint en Magisch Maastricht
Overeenkomst
Hieronder tref je de gebruiksvoorwaarden aan. Door op „Akkoord‟ te klikken, ga je een bindende
overeenkomst aan.
Gratis WiFi op het Vrijthof
De gemeente Maastricht biedt op het Vrijthof gratis internettoegangspunten aan voor bezoekers met
een draagbare computer of een apparaat dat draadloze signalen kan ontvangen. Als je je binnen het
bereik van een toegangspunt bevindt, kun je met je mobiele apparaat toegang krijgen tot internet.
Bezoekers worden geacht de draadloze toegang op een legale en verantwoorde wijze te gebruiken.
Door gebruik te maken van dit draadloze netwerk, erkent de gebruiker dat hij/zij gebonden is aan alle
wet- en regelgeving met betrekking tot internetgebruik en zich daaraan zal houden.
Gebruiksvoorwaarden
Bezoekers dienen te beschikken over een notebook/laptop of ander apparaat met een draadloze kaart
die/dat de WiFi-standaard ondersteunt. De gemeente Maastricht aanvaardt geen aansprakelijkheid
voor de veiligheid van apparatuur.
Veiligheid
Draadloos internet is per definitie een onveilig medium. Net als bij de meeste andere draadloze
gastennetwerken kan informatie die via het draadloze netwerk van de gemeente Maastricht wordt
verstuurd of ontvangen, in principe door een andere draadloze gebruiker worden onderschept. Bij
gebruik van een draadloze „hotspot‟ is het dus onvoorzichtig en onverstandig om creditcardgegevens,
wachtwoorden en andere gevoelige persoonsgegevens te verstekken.
Alle gebruikers van het draadloze netwerk van de gemeente Maastricht worden vooraf gewaarschuwd
dat bij gebruik van het draadloze netwerk hun privacy niet is gewaarborgd. Gebruikers aanvaarden
alle risico‟s van dien en ontslaan de gemeente Maastricht en haar medewerkers van aansprakelijkheid
voor de aantasting van persoonsgegevens (bijv. creditcardgegevens) of voor schade aan de hardware
of software van gebruikers door spanningspieken, beveiligingsproblemen of de gevolgen van virussen
of hacking. Alle gebruikers van de draadloze internetverbinding dienen op hun persoonlijke laptop of
mobiele apparaat te beschikken over een bijgewerkte virusbescherming alsook over de meest recente
security patches.
De gemeente Maastricht kan de anonieme gebruiksgegevens van het WiFi-netwerk tijdens de pilot
gezamenlijk met haar partners verwerken ten behoeve van rapportages over het gebruik en verdere
optimalisatie van het netwerk.

De gemeente Maastricht biedt met deze voorziening draadloos internet aan als service voor
bezoekers en garandeert niet dat het gebruik van de draadloze verbinding veilig is of dat de privacy
van gebruikers kan worden beschermd. Gebruik van dit draadloze netwerk geschiedt volledig voor
risico van de gebruiker, en de gemeente Maastricht is niet aansprakelijk voor verlies van informatie of
voor schade of letsel als gevolg van het gebruik van de draadloze verbinding.

Free WiFi at Vrijthof Square
Together with its partners, Maastricht UMC+ and Vodafone, the Municipality of Maastricht is pleased
to offer you one year of free WiFi at one of the most beautiful town squares in the world: Vrijthof
Square. By doing so, the Municipality of Maastricht and its partners (referred to below as “the
Municipality”) is hoping to:
- make your visits to the square even more enjoyable;
- extend our hospitality to both visitors and residents: everyone is welcome in Maastricht;
- provide continuous online access at the square, thereby increasing security during large-scale events
such as Andre Rieu concerts, Preuvenemint, and Magisch Maastricht.

a binding agreement.
Accessing Free Wifi Vrijthof
The Municipality of Maastricht (referred to hereinafter as “the Municipality”) provides Internet access
points at no charge at Vrijthof Square for guests with portable computers or devices capable of
receiving wireless signals. You will be able to access the Internet from your wireless device when
sitting within range of an access point. Guests are expected to use the wireless access in a legal and
responsible manner. By using this wireless access network, the user acknowledges that he/she is
subject to, and agrees to abide by, all laws and all state and federal rules and regulations applicable to
Internet use.
Terms and Conditions of Use
Guests will need a notebook/laptop computer or other device equipped with a wireless card that
supports the WiFi standard. The Municipality assumes no responsibility for the safety of equipment.
Security Considerations
Wireless access is by nature an insecure medium. As with most guest wireless networks, any
information being sent or received over the Municipality‟s wireless network could potentially be
intercepted by another wireless user. Cautious and informed wireless users should not transmit their
credit card information, passwords and any other sensitive personal information while using a wireless
hot spot.
Anyone using the Municipality‟s wireless network is forewarned that there can be no expectation of
privacy when using the wireless network. Users assume all associated risks and agree to hold
harmless the Municipality and its employees for any personal information (e.g. credit card) that is
compromised, or for any damage caused to users' hardware or software due to electrical surges,
security issues or consequences caused by viruses or hacking. All wireless access users should have
up-to-date virus protection on their personal laptop computers or wireless devices and stay up-to-date
with applicable OS security patches.
The Municipality and its partners may process anonymous user data from the WiFi network during the
pilot in order to generate usage reports and to further optimise the network.
Disclaimer
The Municipality is providing wireless connectivity in this facility as a guest service and offers no
guarantees that any use of the wireless connection is in any way secure, or that any privacy can be
protected when using this wireless connection. Use of this wireless connection is entirely at the risk of
the user, and the Municipality is not responsible for any loss of any information that may arise from the
use of the wireless connection, or for any harm, loss, or injury resulting from the use of the wireless
connection.
