How DROPS Works
Worksite and scaffold rack
Gap in grating
Drop point on lower deck
Scaffold pole was dropped through gap in grating to the lower deck of platform.
• A cross member on a grating was identified as a dropped object concern on 26th June and
subsequently removed with a plan was to replace in the next week. A ladder was in situ beside the gap.
• On 29th June Scaffolders were removing poles from scaffold rack & propped one against the ladder.
When released from the Scaffolders grip, the pole went straight through the grating gap. Pole was
17kgs & fell approx 40 feet to the lower deck.
• Two individuals were located on the lower deck and approximately 12 feet from the drop zone. A door
under the drop zone was also noted to be a thoroughfare.
