It is with great pride that LUGI Handball for the 35th time invites you to participate in the world’s largest indoor handball tournament for youth players – LUNDASPELEN presented by Sparbanken Öresund. One of Lund’s finest traditions is to welcome young handball players at the end of December. Since 1978, more than a hundred thousand young handball players from thousands of clubs representing a large number of countries from all over the world have met between Christmas and New Year’s Eve to play handball. Lundaspelen has always tried to provide a challenge for everyone. To encourage the top teams, the Elite tournament for 16-18-yearolds, was introduced a couple of years ago. Lundaspelen equals quality along with a well functioning organization as regards transportation, accommodation, meals, crew etc. We welcome all teams, new as well as old guests, to LUNDASPELEN. It is one of the most modern Arenas designed for handball in the Nordic countries and all kinds of facilities are located here. You will find the Information Centre, the Lundaspelen Shop and the Entertainment Centre here. Many of the Elite Tournament matches are being played here, along with the Finals for the oldest teams and for the teams in the Special classes. Refreshments are on offer and this is where everyone meets up! Elite tournament in G/B 18-16 categories We invite and/or select 10 of the absolutely best teams from the G/B 18-16 teams. The 10 teams /category will be divided into two five-teamgroups from which the best four teams will be qualified for the A-finals and the 5th placed team will play in the B-finals. After the group play there will be standard A- and B-final rounds. In the A-finals the teams from the Elite tournament will be top-seeded. It is not possible to register for this category but if you consider your team to be one of the best teams in your region, please send in your application. Teams that do not pay for accommodation will pay 1700 SEK per team in registration fees. G/B 9 teams pay 800 SEK regardless of accommodation. G/B18– born 94 or later G/B16– born 96 or later SPECIAL RULES A club is allowed to enter more than one team in G/B15– born 97 or later the same category. A player is only allowed to play in one team per G/B14– born 98 or later category, that he or she is entitled to enter. Girls are allowed to play G/B13– born 99 or later in boys´ teams in the categories B9-B14. G/B 12 and upwards play G/B12– born 00 or later on full size courts. Category G/B 9 plays on whole courts as well, but G/B11 – born 01 or later not always on full size courts. MATCH TIME All categories play 2x15 minutes. All participating teams WHICH TEAMS CAN PARTICIPATE? are guaranteed a minimum of five matches. – Club teams – School and district teams outside Sweden QUALIFICATION ROUNDS The teams are divided into groups of five – Swedish district teams (decision made by Lundaspelen committee) to six teams, where all teams meet. The two top teams/group will then – National teams (decision made by Lundaspelen committee) be qualified for the A-finals (with the exception of the Elite Tournament) while the remaining teams will play in the B-finals. The qualification rounds are on the 27th and 28th of December.
