The Allocation
The Grant funding has risen from £488 in 2011-2 to the
following allowances in 2014-5:

Looked After Children (LAC)

Children adopted from care under the Adoption and
Children Act 2002 and children who have left care
under a Special Guardianship or Residence Order

Service children
Pupils in Year Groups R to 11 recorded as Ever 4
Service Child or in receipt of a child pension from the
Ministry of Defence.

Pupil Premium Plus: Post-LAC
£1900 for Post-LAC will be payable from April 2014 onwards for children who
have left care on an order :
• under a Residential Order on or after 14 October 1991 (under the
Children Act 1989); ( to be termed family arrangement order)
• under a Special Guardianship Order on or after 30 December 2005
(under the Children Act 1989);
• adopted from care on or after 30 December 2005 (under the Adoption
and Children Act 2002);
• The parent must self-declare their child’s status to the school,
providing supporting evidence (e.g. an adoption order); and
• The school must record on the January School Census that it has a
child on roll who meets the above criteria.
• Payment is made by the School Funding Agency
• Accountability will be as for Pupil Premium for FSM

The Pupil Premium Plus and current CLA
• For children in Reception through to Y11
• Payable from the first day of the care episode by the Virtual School
• The primary objective of the funding is to boost attainment and
encourage accelerated progress
• £500 paid termly to schools but not ring fenced
• Paid to all schools including Special Schools and Independent Schools
• There will be an additional central ‘pot’ for exceptional needs or
innovative strategies to promote progress accessed via the Personal
Education Plan (PEP)
• The funding allocation allows for differentiation to take account of
individual need
• School together with Virtual School to decide how best to use the
premium to meet the educational needs of the child
• Rationale for spend must be discussed during the PEP with detailed
targets and impact documented
• The Head Teacher to sign off the completed PEP and Pupil Premium

The Hertfordshire Policy
For 2014- 2015, there will be two strands to
the Pupil Premium Plus.
Additional funding
Schools can apply for additional funding.
Spring 2015 £500.00
Core Funding
£500.00 per CLA per term will be triggered as long as
the PEP targets are focussed on accelerating progress Autumn 2014 £500.00
and is costed appropriately.
The PP+ spend is then signed off by the Head Teacher Summer 2014 £500.00

• The census covers all children who are
referred to children’s social care services
even if no further action is taken.
• This includes children looked after (CLA),
those supported in their families or
independently (CSF/I), and children who are
the subject of a child protection plan.

Immigration Law changes (1)
• Effective from 16th May 2014
• Only affects those from outside the EEA
• Reduced list of acceptable ID for proof of right
to work
• Removal of annual document checks for
employees with visas. The document check will
be required when the visa is due to expire
• We are now allowed up to 28 days from date of
visa expiry to check the person has submitted
an application to the Home Office

Immigration Law changes (2)
• Home Office will now send Positive Verification Notices
to confirm if the person is able to continue working for 6
months beyond their visa expiry date.
• Requirement for international students on visas to
provide evidence of their academic term and vacation
times
• Greater civil penalties for failure to comply with the
legislation
• Extension of grace period to 60 days for carrying out
right to work checks on TUPE transfers
