ACT SCHEDULING TIMELINE/INFO 2015 Scheduling Process/Timeline Parent NightsLocation: Margaret Livensparger Theatre at the Main Campus. Incoming 11th-12th grades Incoming 9th-10th grades February 2nd 6-7pm February 2nd 7:30-8:30pm Scheduling PresentationsIncoming 9th Grade: Day 1- Counselors will present a PowerPoint for all incoming freshman in the Junior High theatre at 10:35 am. The PowerPoint will highlight, graduation requirements/scheduling process. Day 2- Counselors will be in Math classes throughout the day explaining how to fill out the course request form, what a credit review is, course planning as well as answering any questions. Incoming 10-12th Grade: Day 1- Teachers will be speaking about the next year and what options are available for course work. English 9 will speak about English 10; Math 10 will speak about Math 11 etc…. Elective courses will speak about elective options at the next grade level. Students will carry a scheduling worksheet to each class throughout the day, take home the worksheet to discuss with parents, while reviewing the program planning manual found online. Day 2- Counselors will be in classrooms this day to answer any clarifying questions, continue the conversation about grad requirements, and complete the request sheet. Request sheets will be due on day 2. Registration confirmation will be sent home, as usual, in May for final approval, adjustments and signature from parents. Use this senior year checklist to keep track of your progress and upcoming deadlines for testing, admissions and financial aid. (Writing 1 21 , Intro to Psychol ogy, Precalculus , Intro to Sociology) Students must meet qualifying scores through the ACT or Accuplacer to enroll in college cour ses. Students are not considered transfer students with college credits. College cour ses can count for credit in three dif ferent ways: Take the cour se for high school and college credit Take the cour se for high school credit only Take the cour se for college credit only Capstone cour ses allow students to fur ther develop independent skills that will benefit them in any career pathway. Students will also have the oppor tunity to explore career interests and gain valuable experience that will allow them to become more employable. Capstone cour ses combine an English teacher with a teacher in the content area. Students are able to fulfill their senior level English credit through a Capstone cour se and the credit is viewed as a core credit towards acceptance to a college/univer sity.
